Behave. He scored 26 goals in 47 appearances in his first season. I think it took him 8 games to get going - wow. So after that he scored 26 in 39......dead slow that mate
He wasn't a striker when Wenger signed him though. He was a winger at Juventus and Monaco.
Wenger saw the attirbutes of a striker in him and brought him over to play as one. It obviously was going to take him a few games to adjust, not only to a new league but a new position! But to use him as an example of a player who took ages to settle was a total fail mate.

Martial has played a total of 49 games for monaco
35 last yea rin breakout year and 9 goals.
he's only played france u21 so far.. might make debut soon.

I never mentioned Martial or made any comparison. I've never seen the lad play.
I posted solely in response to your comment that he might take ages to settle like Henry did. As it was a bollocks example of a player who took ages to settle , as he didn't - a handful of games with a blank and then hitting 26 in 39 isn't a great example of what you were seeking to suggest might happen with Uniteds new signing. I'm sure they'd bite your hands off if 'ages' was 8 games follwoed by 26 goals this season pal.

He took a few months to get going. he was a worldie in every sense so his top level was so far ahead of where he started out at with arsneal he did take time to settle... I've not said it'll take a year to settle btw..
What I said yesterday was He's come o nthe last day and compared to depay who's come from a similar level league and has had 2 months to settle and is still not up to speed this guy can't hit the gorund running and shouldn't be expected to.
I have said cisse never settled.
I have in the past said cisse was top scoroer in france before joining us and in france squad but i did not say that today in fairness.
For the record I think it's a mad transfer but the way people are talking down the French league is ridiculous. Chelsea went out of the CL to PSG, Arsenal went out to Monaco. Are the top teams in the PL better than the top teams in France? Nope, arguably worse!
If he doesn't score in his first game the opposition fans and the press will slaughter him!

PSG dominate it but there are a lot of very good players HERE AND THERE.. the pace of the game is totally different and if you look at the shopping done by say newkie they end up with guys that look blown off the park physically.
Arsenal v monaco.. did you see the game? moncaos did will in CL but arsenal were a thundering disgrace in that home game.
PSG are thr equivilant of city.... mega money.
the clubs under all have to get by. Frankly if the boy is up to the pace instantly it will mean all need to stand back asa new wordlie has arrive.
He needs 3 months to get settled minimum and more like 6 IMO... just give him time.

Paying £36m for a 19 year old that most had barely heard of let alone seen, sounds mental, especially after Van Gaal said that United weren't going to panic buy.
Your transfer strategy has been a ****ing mess imo. You've needed a top drawer CB for 2 seasons +, you chased Ramos hard at the start of the window, and then didn't sign a CB!
You got rid of RvP and Falcao, and then froze out Hernandez, and were left with 1 senior striker (of sorts) in Rooney and the have signed a 19 yr old wide man / striker, when you were crying out for an experienced top drawer front man.
The De gea **** up just put the tin hat on it. A ****ing shambles.
Actually surprised how bad United's spending has been. Never thought they'd go down the 2010 City route of chasing every available/willing 'star'.
Thought they'd contentedly add one/two careful but ambitious signings + youth each summer.
But when you look at the signings... Fellaini doesn't fit, Mata is brilliant but doesn't really fit, Di Maria was never needed, Rojo doesn't really fit, Falcao was pure desperation... Martial? Ridiculous. Schweinsteiger yet may not fit in.
Only signings I could imagine Fergie making were Darmain, Blind, Schneiderlin and maybe Schweinsteiger.
They still need a GK,1-2 CBs, a combative midfielder, another winger and 1-2 strikers.

We have a very good GK although only for one more season, we need one centre back, we certainly don't need a combative midfielder, we don't really need another winger, we do need one more striker.
Not sure why we signed Rojo, I can only assume he was bought to play left of a 3 in a 3-5-2 which simply didn't work so he's not fit for purpose now. He's a good left back and a decent centre half but he's also a mistake waiting to happen. Di Maria just didn't fancy the PL, he winced at every tackle and basically gave up! Fellaini was a mistake. Mata is a wizard but has to play as a 10 in my opinion. Who knew Falcao would be so ****?
It's not all bad though! I think Schwein has been excellent in the games he's played in so far. Shaw has been outstanding so far this season. Darmian and Schneiderlin have been very good. Depay has bags of raw talent but will need time to adjust to the PL. Herrera is a very good player. Every squad needs a Blind.
Every club makes transfer mistakes. Balotelli, Moreno, Lovren, Lallana, Markovic. They pile up!
If you'd have signed a top drawer striker, moved on De gea sensibly and then replaced him, and brought in the CB you've been desperate for, then I'd have given you an outside chance of a title challenge this season.
As it stands, I think your lack of firepower is going to cost you over the course of the season, as is your somewhat makeshift CB pairing.
I agree about the Kraut, Depay and Darmian though. In a season when Chelsea aren't going to be at their best, then I think you'll look back and kick yourselves come May.

In fairness to monaco well done for playing it cool and maximising the return.
it was clear utd needed a player so they must have been confident when bid 2 came in they were not going elsewhere.
once wuold wonder had utd bid a month ago would they have had to pay so much?
David Moyes only two signings for utd have got LvG out of jail on numerous occasions, only for the pressure Fergie put on him he would have been as good for them as their present manager.
We didn't get a bid for De Gea til Monday and then tried to get the deal done. Real seem to have ****ed it up deliberately so they can get him for free next year. Wouldn't have made sense to sign a top class keeper with De Gea still at the club.
I agree our lack of goals is going to be a problem all season unless Rooney suddenly wakes up. Not sure defence is going to be as much of an issue. Supposedly our defence is a shambles but it's conceded the fewest goals in the league since November last year when it was finally able to settle down a bit after the 3-5-2 nonsense and the ridiculous number of injuries to centre halves.[/QUOTE]
