I agree with the Robertson bit his crosses are dreadful Elmo might start to improve a lot now the windows shut
I think this year, apart from the friendlies, where he looked promising, Robertson has had a bad start, whether his head was else where, I'm not sure. Maybe the mood around camp has been odd these last couple of weeks, with that said we are still at the top and if the likes of Huddlestone, McGregor, Robertson and Meyler can get there head down, we could be quite a force this year. I believe Huddlestone is lacking confidence and fitness (maybe age). The fact nobody showed any interest speaks volumes about his performances but I think we need to stick together and go up together.
So far we've not done so great against promotion rivals and I think that's the best way to assess the chances of promotion. There's no point being defensive against rivals, that Bruce tactic helped get us relegated. If we got promoted Bruce would likely be in demand in the second tier but not the first.
Playoffs ? feck that. We are going for the title. We have had positions 2 and 3 now for First place and a trophy.
Unfortunately I have no faith in Bruce in the Premier League - so if we go up, he should go out, the door.
I have not faith in bruce's defensive tactics in the premier league, why defend against teams like Chelsea and Man City, we all know there going to score, we look more effective when we get in the faces, I cant count the amount of times we were winning last year and we ended up drawing, that is because Bruce try's to defend, no counter attack, no pressing just defend.
I believe it was 6. You'll find it easier if you use the fingers on both hands. Keep on practicing, it'll come.
To be honest I don't think we had the players to press opponents like Chelsea or Man City. Huddlestone for example isn't fast enough and the problem with playing the in your face tactic is that after 70 or 80 minutes the intensity drops and the better teams then pick you off. Yes we dropped points from winning positions but the inability to get back into a game when we went 1 down was just as much to blame. Swansea, Leicester, Newcastle and Burnley at home being prime examples.
Won't happen and nor should it. If SB gets us up again - and if we keep this squad in tact we have a great chance - he deserves a crack at keeping us up.
With the squad we have and a decent loan GK, I am not interested in play-offs, we should aim for the title and really push on as Newcastle did.
We're fully capable of top 2, but you look at the team's aiming for there too and the strength of their squads. QPR managed to keep hold of Phillips and Austin Burnley have made some quality signings. Ipswich and Brighton look strong Middlesbrough are a quality side Derby are stuttering but wholesale changes to management team and new signings, they'll come good. It's gonna be tough and to think we're gonna piss it would be very daft.
If we go up, there's the chance of a new owner and then they might have more ambitious plans. Bruce just doesn't have the tactical awareness of quite a few other managers at that level.
