Also... http://www.theguardian.com/football/2011/jul/14/luka-modric-transfer-request-chelsea I wonder how this came in to the public domain...
BTW - nice articles these past few days - pleased that you are getting the recognition for the hard work you have put in - keep it going - you deserve it
What a load of twaddle...........Not answering the question every one is asking....which is how the press get hold of their interest in players before the target team and player on most occasions?
Well, you can make a public statement to claim everything is above board, and privately be going through a whispering campaign with the players agents. It just takes a disgruntled agent to blow the whistle. One day something will break.
**** Tottenham The only good thing about Tottenham is that their new stadium is going to have dedicated facilities for American Football.
You were doing so well then PL, nearly endeared yourself to me. You should have stopped after the second word
Meh. Spuds are lying but probably no more than others. The fudging is relatively transparent eg. Yes, almost everyone pays in stages but 75% down and 25% in quickly and easily obtainable incentives is much different than 5% down and 95% in whacky, unlikely performance clauses or payments spread out over 100 years. I don't believe WBA is necessarily more ethical then Tottenham. They announced the transfer dealings publicly because it was to their advantage and suited their narrative. Just because you issue a press release instead of a "leak" doesn't make it true. The bottom line for me is that I think any objective analysis of Spurs would conclude that Dier is a CB, not a DM, and they need cover for Kane. And if you don't get it done, don't point your finger at others. Sure, maybe WBA screwed you. It happens. Deal with it. I think Pulis did want to get rid of Berahino, but Peace did not. Ultimately Peace runs things so don't count chickens before they hatch. We thought Clyne might sign, he didn't. So we got Soares. We thought we would get Alderweireld. We didn't so we got VVD. It is early in the season, so I wouldn't claim victory. Maybe those guys end up being poor signings. But if Saints were to release a statement like, "yeah, we don't need a CB or RB. We didn't try, we totally planned this," I wouldn't buy it for a second. Some of us were more forgiving of management than others for failing to sign those guys. But I don't think anyone thought it was okay to just act like it was no big deal and enter the season without a Plan B.
There's little appeal in proper football for a pompey supporter, no wonder PompeyLapras switched to american football and women's football.
Maybe Levy is not the nicest person in the world,, but I am not buying into this anti-Tottenham thing. I would love Spurs to do well, not at our expense of course, but to beat the so-called big boys. And aren't Chelsea and Manchester United fans far worse than Tottenham's?
I never wish Manchester United or Chelsea well at all, no matter who is there!! Give me Spurs any day.
I don't think there is too many of us that have a problem with Spurs as a whole.....Just their tactics on the transfer market. On a personal note I don't particularly care whether Pochettino makes it or doesn't. On that matter I think he is on a very slippery slope anyway.
Great reply Beddytare but I get the feeling reading a number of posts that there is a bit of an anti-Spurs feeling regardless of Poch and Levy's antics? Why hasn't someone started a "dirty tricks" thread regarding Chelsea and their pursuit of John Stones? That was equally bad!
Yes there is! They do not have racist elements in their support unlike another London club, nor do they have fans that drag their name through the gutter of hooliganism, unlike those of the same London club, nor do they have fans with links to Orange Lodge factions in Glasgow and Northern Ireland, unlike the same London club.
