Just back. No, I missed the rambling. They did 7.5 miles and apparently it was excellent [sod it]. I do like the banter amongst the ramblers. Great cross section of people. Think I've mentioned it before, but one of our older number worked on parts for the TSR2. We can get that kind of gritty conversation over a pint or three. Today, a fellow rambler walked by me and announced, that was better. He was referring to Saints yesterday.

Anyway. Shawford is a nice out of the way place. Hugely overlooked and that's how the various people there would like it kept. The M3 swishes by in its cutting and there's a fair bit of high ground between the area and the motorway. I couldn't hear it from outside the Bridge Inn, which is so called because it is right next to an impressive railway bridge, which also has an in-built station attached [those cunning Victorians]. Obviously, Shawford was planned for great things which never quite came to pass, or perhaps its heyday has passed into history. Not the best, but a nice-ish pub.

BTW, Butcombe Bitter isn't bad at all [they didn't do the porter, Chilco]. Light golden coloured, quite soft tasting, and fruity. Quite nice and a complete surprise for the name to be there. Had to get the barman to top it up though [these heads they put on true pint glasses, tsk, tsk] as the beer was well up.

Famous for the spot where Victor Meldrew got run over

Sounds like Saints will have a deadline day signing after all

Victor Meldrew came to a sticky end there! Ooops too slow yet again, I don't believe it.

What are you even on about?
Answers on the back of a postcard.

I can't believe anyone thinks we're going into the final 18~ hours of a transfer window having pursued VVD for the best part of a year without actually agreeing a fee yet. Despite that, he's left Glasgow, hasn't been at training and has undertaken a medical.

But no, no fee agreed.

Sky kept reporting that a fee was yet to be agreed, therefore suggesting it wouldnt be completed today. People on here seemed to think that was bullshit but perhaps the fact it hasn't been confirmed tonight suggests it isn't as close to being done as many on here have suggested.

Apologies chaps, appears it's been dragged on until tomorrow.

When I last heard (last night), I was told they were expecting to complete the deal this evening.

[HASHTAG]#WeF5On[/HASHTAG]...

You wait.! I can just read the blurb right now.

Adam Blackmore [AB] The transfer appears to have taken some time. Did you have any other offers to consider.?
Virgil VanDijk [VVD] No, when I heard Southampton were interested in me it was hard not to stay away.
AB: But leaving Celtic must have been a hard thing for you
VVD: Yes, and I shall be forever grateful to them for giving me the chance to improve myself, but as soon as I knew Ronald Koeman and Southampton wanted me it was just a matter of making the move at the right time.
AB: And obviously it took a little while to get the terms sorted out.
VVD: No, not really. It was all done very quickly.

He is only down here on a long weekend I reckon...

You may well be right, it is only a matter of time but just the fact it's dragged out to the last day could suggest it's hasn't been as close as people have said. Although saying that I could be confirmed 11 am tomorrow! None of us know for sure, merely speculation.

DTLW would know. I was told as well that Dijk was in Southampton late last night. Sky very rarely are up to date with what is going on these days. As has been said in this thread, their Sky Sources is mainly info taking from journo's tweets on Twitter.

I would have thought Sky had many contacts and leads so it surprises me that they just use journalists twitter feed. Although at times it is strikingly obvious I suppose.
