May be,

But we needed new blood, whether it is for 5m or 50m is immaterial.

Why do you need new blood? Is this bloke really going to be a big improvement on Januzaj, Young or whoever else plays in the attacking wide positions? Perhaps yes but at 19 years old it seems a bizarre signing when they could just work on making sure Januzaj fulfils his considerable potential.

Its a massive panic buy, by United. They had the whole summer to get this player. They went for Pedro, could have had him at 21m and are now paying 40m + for an untested teenager.

Is Januzaj being sold. I thought he was being loaned. I wouldn't have sold him.

To me it makes sense to loan him out. We needed a striker rather than a midfielder. We've got a few of those now. The new guy can play at the top I understand. So panic buy may be (from yesterday's loss) but better late than never.

All of Fergie's team apart from Smalling and Rooney have now gone from the first team. Carrick, Young, Valencia Jones remain as supporting cast.

No offense to the goon but can you tell me who arsenal have signed?

I wouldnt spend your time being concerned with our business. Its fantastic compared with yours.

Which is incredible. The good ones were too old and past it while the younger ones were simply not good enough.

There's a lot of credit for van Gaal here. Carrying all the dead wood we had was a major problem post fergie. Glad to see the back of them all.

:)

When I said 2 years ago that most of the squad will need to go and that we needed to spend £300m I was in a minority of one <whistle>

He is being loaned but seemingly to make way for this bloke which is quite odd, don't you think?

Not really. Those of us who've watched Janujaz will realise he's made no progress in the last season or so. In fact, he's gone backwards. A lot.

I can't see him ever being anything other than merely ok.

I was wrong for sure. Over estimated the quality and ambition of the deadwood.

The reality is we needed a complete rebuild. Beyond anything the club has gone through in quite some time. To have finished 4th last season was far more than the bare minimum considering the task ahead. The money spent is of little importance when so many players need replacing.

This season sees the rebuild continue. There's little room for sentiment and keeping useless players around is something the club is no longer willing to do.

A move to a team like Dortmund could serve him well. He should play more games and be able yo work on his game.

And who knows, maybe they will thank us with Reus.

Aye.

Unfortunately I've lived through a similar episode when a very successful and long term iconic manager retires. It took years of upheaval and several managers to get back to normal.

In a strange way the RS has and still going through the same upheaval. The difference is that they had a dynasty (boot room they called it) and when they dismantled it the die was cast.

Arsenal will go through the same thing when Wenger leaves. I was not surprised that they've kept him and delayed the upheaval as long as possible.
