Who would you rather have to partner Defoe ? Danny Graham Steven Fletcher Fabio Borini Most players are mercenaries these days so why not have a mercenary who can score goals and has a point to prove ???
Let's face it, if he comes here and on his first interview or article in the Echo, he says that he was trying to get into the Liverpool team (which is much better than ours) then you can't blame the lad for his ambition. If any of you are footballers surely you would want to play for the best team you could. Then, if he says he will give everything for us, he will be accepted. You can't blame the lad for wanting the best he can get. I don't really think it's all about the money. If we do get him then we should accept and support him 100%. The strange thing is, we need him less now with the other signings we have made. Our priorities are LB, RB, all out striker then central defence. Funny how we've needed a LB for ages and now that we have one we really need another, in fact PVA would probably make a good left winger. How about Seb for RB?

QPR have given Hoilett a free transfer. May I suggest ability wise they are very similar. Why pay £8million? That said, despite what's went on, Borini is a useful player and one worth having.
Sky sports ticker tape saying a bid totalling £10 million has been accepted. I'd take him as long as he grafts like he did last time it can only be a good thing for us.
Liverpool have accepted an £8 million pound bid plus add on's for Borini as per Sky Sorts news, if it happens lets get behind him and give him a chance, he was honest last season when he wanted to fight for his place in the Liverpool team who at the time were in the Champions League, it was Poyet who chased him and carried it on, he did well for us in his loan spell, no reason why he cant do it again.
If Austin even wanted to come here known our luck his alleged chronic injury would flare up and we will see him sporadically till we sell him for a couple of million to a newly promoted premier league team. That would really drop us in the clarts! I suspect he would have moved by now if he could guarentee to pass a medical.
English clubs have more money, the selling club will always up the price, and the £5million to Fiorentina didn't actually get accepted, only £8million from Inter. £8million is about his max value if we end up paying £10million he's been a success and we have an asset to the team or a player to sell at a profit. What wasn't appropriate was £14million last year!
£10 million is effing steep like! Typical Sunderland signing.....paying over the odds for a slightly above average player! He's still a canny bit better than what weve got though mind. Desperate times call for desperate measures i suppose. I've nothing against him over his part in the transfer saga so that doesnt bother me. Is he what we are looking for though? I was hoping for more of a target man. The ****er will probably turn us down anyway!
Apart from the fee (which I think is a bit steep), and the saga (he said no straight away, it was Poyets pursuit made himself look daft), I`m not sure we need him. If we`re watching the purse strings there are more important issues.
Let's be fair guys...7m or 8m with add-ons, let's say 10M..... This is bugger all in this day and age, is it ? !! Yes we're still paying past players and we are trying to balance the books etc...but 10m on top of the argued 20m we've already spent is **** all in our current climate. Get the lad in.......SIMPLE !
BREAKING NEWS Liverpool have accepted a bid from Sunderland totalling £10m for Fabio Borini, Sky sources understand. But it means nowt if he dosnt want to come AGAIN.
wouldn't surprise me if we also get a defender, Dick said the Midfield is ok, I also think Fletcher or Graham will be going before the deadline.
Would they publish this if he didn't come? Possible, but I have no issue with 8 million + add-ons. The other key part of his game is he does track back, which Dick was making a major point about. I think he'll be one of the wide two up front, interchanging left and right, and tracking back. Defoe in the middle? Hmm, doesn't seem to be the holder-upper the system needs, but he should be able to thrive on Toivonen the big lad and space created by Lens and Borini. Would be nice to get Alonso and Ramos too, and shift out the ****e......
