Norwich have a massive problem convincing players above a certain level to come to the club, its always been the same story. What better way to try and show intent to the real transfer target than to make £15m approaches to such players, safe in the knowledge they would never agree to sign. It's a rather childish smokescreen IMO.
FFS you being serious?

Apparently he comes from the Ukraine, RBF, but has lived long enough in Denmark to play for the national team from youth teams onward. I expect you know that though, being a native so to speak. :emoticon-0105-wink:

If any player is going to be convinced by McNally saying "you might not think we're at your level now, but we're going to sign x for £15m, y for £12m and z for £10m and then we'll be able to challenge for Europe", then they're more stupid than I already perceive the average footballer to be. Not to mention shrewd agents who won't be blinded by bluster.

Someone you've been impressed by rbf?

Haven´t seen that much of him DH, but I know he´s pretty highly thought of here, and certainly the prices of young European players are much more to our liking and far more realistic than the ridiculously inflated ones you have to put up with in England.

Supposedly ourselves and Fulham interested, no decision made on the bid yet. Some interesting comments on there, some reckon he's worth £3-4m, others say take the money. Obviously not prices that are in any way beyond us. He's also described as possibly the best upcoming talent in the League, and also as someone prone to lapses in concentration, whose development has stalled.

Ironic that Erik Sviatchenko plays for the Danish team which put Southampton out of the Europa Cup! Much more like the sort of player we are likely to sign.

Meanwhile Mbokani has indicated that he is on his way on Instagram:

He looks decent, and the kind of player I would have thought we could go after. Good height, good age, played Champions League And Europe League qualifiers this season. Couple of caps for Denmark. They are talking about 2.2 Million too. Feels like the kind of signing Southampton would have made the last few season.

If you like slightly dubious proof of transfers, Mbokani has just liked this picture on Instagram:

It feels unusual that we'll likely be looking to do significant business on deadline day for once.

Which means the club's normal 'prudence' policy will possibly go out of the window.
Their own fault for not tying things up earlier - though AN did say he was having trouble convincing targets to come to the club, who may rightly see NCFC as the smallest fish in a pond which reeks of £££.
Or are these 'targets' overambitious for a club of our size / stature? :emoticon-0112-wonde

In a word "yes".

We're not known as a "money club" and players at foreign clubs would struggle to find the fine city on a map.

Dieumerci Mbokani joins @NorwichCityFC today. Earlier it was reported that season-long loan deal but it can become a permanent transfer.
Brilliant deal that, at least this way we don't get our fingers burnt a la RvW. If he cuts the mustard we stump up the cash at the end of the season, if not we are not lumbered with a high earner.

Right McNally, you've got just over 24 hours to bring in a quality CB, pull your bloody finger out !
