What's Barmby up to these days?

Last time I heard he was coach a Sunday league team in Willerby.

Seems strange that such a decent player who played at the very top level for the top clubs and played for England has faded into obscurity. Ever since his fall out with the Allams he seems to have kept and incredibly low profile.

Weird that he isn't coaching or managing at a real league club or even a pundit.

With his experience you would expect he could have a decent career in management and you'd think most channels would take him on as a pundit.

Maybe he's just decided that he doesn't need to work and is enjoying his retirement?

I'm sure someone on here said he likes the odd game of RL (watching) but hasn't been arsed with football at all.

 

Mostly plays golf and drives his lad around watching in football training and games

 

I think he's more a number two than a manager.

 

He always said City were the only club he ever wanted to manage.

 

He's a clever and reserved chap. He didn't waste his money like many footballers do, and he keeps out of the spotlight.

He's just enjoying his life one would imagine, good on him, I think a career in football comes with a lot of responsibility and heavily restricts your life. If I was him I'd be doing the very same thing.

 

I think he's only in his early 40's, surely he won't want to retire? He may not need the money but I'm sure he'd want something worthwhile to do, like most of us would.

 

If I had enough money to not work, I wouldn't work.

I suspect he's not sat in front of his tele in a pair of Lonsdale shorts and a wife beater vest on watching Jeremy Kyle.

I'm quite certain he is keeping himself busy doing what he enjoys the most.

The severance package from Allam I believe is keeping him well tided. Plus I imagine he's got a decent accountant who's invested wisely for him over the years. I see him in Beech Tree in anlaby all the time

Shame in a way, as I would think he could have a lot to offer the game......btw, is Sheringham still in the game?...I think he got a job managing Stevenage or somewhere but I don't know if he is still there

I saw him footing the ladder while his old fella was nailing a bit of coax cable to a facia board on North Hull Estate the other day. At least I thought it was him.

 

There's a Plank over on Hull City Mad that hates Nick Barby's guts, and he'd tear into you for putting that NB is clever.

 

I go to Total Fitness in Willerby in the morning mid week and regularly see him in there working out

 

Then he probably heads home for a swim.....

He'll be doing ok will Nicky B - and he deserves it
