He's not saying anything (apart from the hate and stereotyping, with a bit of generalisation thrown in) that none of us have not been saying for years.

If I started a Blog (persih the thought) and I was going to whine like a ******ed child I'd like to at least come up with a solution. He's a tit.

The solution is to divvy out the cash so that the team finishing lower down gets more money and rich teams get less to level out the competition.

Of course, the real issue is that we have too many teams and not enough fans going regularly to the games due to horrific pricing structures.

A lad in my work (a BHEAST) went to his local team's game at the weekend, Dumbarton, and paid £18 to get in!

The whole thing is rigged to allow the bigger teams to get bigger and it won't change until FFP is implemented (again but properly enforced) and the European game amalgamates into a pyramid system complementing local leagues.

My son is football mad at the moment (EPL/Bundesliga/La Liga in particular) and I find myself telling him of the time DU beat Barca home and away when I was 7/8 then Hearts beat Bayern the following season and how Red Star Belgrade/Steua Bucharest/Dynamo Kiev were the giants of the game and how their stadiums were cathedrals of noise but all he's interested in (apart from Rangers of course) is transfers to the top EPL sides, Bayern/Borussia/Real/Barca.

Celtic and Rangers can compete again, but it will be through amazing management and long term solutions and structures, but be prepared that as soon as they make a dent into the top teams, those teams will plunder Cel/Gers and take their best players and they'll need to start again.

The Portuguese seem to do not so bad and they're hardly awash with €€€ at the moment but they are not scared to bring through youth, but then they have lots of good coaches and a climate where the kids will be out playing football every night.

    Agree ^^^^^

The Portuguese also have their pick of young Brazilian talent ... actual talent, not the Scheidts of the world... but I get your point.

Celtic v St Johnstone: "Tickets are priced from £26 adults, from £17 concessions (Under 16/65+) and from £10 Under 13."

    Motherwell:
Home / Tickets & Travel / Fir Park Prices
    Fir Park Prices
SPFL Premiership admission prices for season 2014/15.

Phil O’Donnell Stand Standard Entry Premium Entry
    Adults £2
    3

    Aberdeen
    Adult Over 65 FTE/Over 75 Under 18 Under 12
    Main Stand £28

Scottish football's set up is all wrong ... it's a small league in a small nation and they need to be encouraging fans through the gates with lower prices. If you have two kids, your talking about 60 quid before you've left the house!

It also doesn't help that parents feed their kids icelands finest ****e and let them sit in front of the Xbox all day as some sort of babysitter.

The only thing I wanted as a teenager was a football and several ****s a day.

And there was proper meat and veg on the plate.

Portugal also have lapse laws regarding work permits, hence why they can get lots of South Americans in and then sell for **** loads.

Plus, imagine telling an 18 year old Brazilian wonderkid he's off to Glasgow for 3 years <laugh>

    Fitba is ****ed.

like a sort of communist utopia? i thought you were a free market capitalist baz.

i agree in principle, how on earth dumbarton can charge that i have no idea, it should be a fiver to get in. they need to look at things like letting those who enjoy a couple of pints on a sat afternoon, have these pints at the game. if you were going for a few you might be tempted to go to a lower league game if the entry was cheap and you could have a beer. there is no way you are paying 18 quid when you can sit in a boozer and watch an EPL game

in the 80's the wages on offer did not really change from club to club, sure the top top players got paid more but the difference was nowhere near what we have today. Scott Allan played 10 games for Dundee Utd, before increasing his wage tenfold at WBA. Steve archibald played a 100 times by the time he moved south at 24. He was a seasoned pro and ready for first team top flight football Scott Allan was not ready for this. i am not for one second saying that scotty allan can go on an play for barca - but he would have been in a better position to cope with first team football if he had played a few seasons at DU first

you are dreaming if you think celtic or the rangers can ever compete on a true european stage. until they are in a league with the financial rewards like the EPL we will be lucky to reach the CL.

Of course in the real world, hard work should be rewarded and we have competition commissions in place to make sure the consumer gets a fair deal.

Sport and football is different though and in a league where Celtic make more than everyone else combined, compounding that by awarding them the most money for being the best only makes that gap bigger and in turn makes the competition less fair.

Of course, this utopia would only exist if the fans came out to watch their local teams and many kids nowadays are starting to support the BPL teams as opposed to Scotch teams as their parents are gay and don't want them being tarred with the "sectarian" brush of supporting one of the Glasgow teams or have given up on their local teams as the price is too much and the quality is pish.

RANGERS blogger Jonny McFarlane says that Celtic's failure to reach the cash-rich Champions League group stages has been a victory for Rangers.

WHILST the meek nature of Celtic’s ejection from the Champion’s League has provided much mirth and merriment down Govan way, there has also been the realisation that it might be a watershed moment in Rangers' quest to return to the summit of the Scottish game.

As brilliantly as Mark Warburton has constructed an exciting and skillful team, the slender victory over Hibs in a match that could have gone either way, should be a reality check on our progress. Celtic and perhaps even Hearts and Aberdeen are another matter entirely.

The thought of an already dominant domestically Parkhead club being able to bank more than £20 million in Champion’s League revenue would be enough to trouble the sleeping patterns of even the most optimistic Teddy Bear. It would have put them in an extremely strong position for next season’s inevitable resumption of Old Firm hostilities and left Rangers playing catch-up on a scale that would be difficult to bridge over anything other than the long term. Gers fans have to be pretty thankful then, that after Malmo, Celtic are now weaker and more vulnerable than at any time in the last decade.

They have a manager whose chief positive attribute seems to be the ability to talk like a football hipster. He certainly knows how to sell himself and his ‘new ideas’, but looking at his record you have to wonder if he isn’t just a Norwegian Kenny Shiels. His record is one of consistent failure in big games and from a Rangers' perspective; you can only hope he trundles on into next season. There Ronny Delia will come up against a much stronger test, a man with a magic hat.

The turnaround at Rangers has been sensational, the football a joy and the attendances incredible. The management of transfers has also been a highlight, with every signing showing quality and every departure making sense. As part of that it was also good to see Rangers sticking to their policy of never allowing a player to leave for a domestic title rival, which is why there was no reason to stop Darren McGregor’s move to Hibs….After what felt like an eternity of EBT’s, SEVCO, Administration and Charles Green’s big Yorkshire hands, this was the week that the banter returned. Finally the Bears felt confident enough in our own position to come out of retreat and start biting back about matters on the pitch. Last season we got our club back and now it seems like our place in Scottish football is finally visible on the horizon.

    No hyperbole here.

Niall McGinn in the papers saying Aberdeen pushing for the treble. Wonder if he'll get slaughtered in the press when they inevitably finish the season without a trophy like last year?...

Doubtless it will be forgotten and ignored as the press seem to be focussing their PR energies on the Barcelona -style revolution going on in the south side of the city.

They were utterly roasted by a team of Hearts kids over the season then gubbed 6-1 by the worst Motherwell team in a decade.

ANYONE could have come in this summer and done a better job than fatty did.
