Couldn't see that move myself. Especially with the Wachman waiting in the wings.

"Common knowledge over here. Has been mooted for some time. Wachman will not be given the job because he is deemed not good enough."

    from ascot

“We [O’Brien and his wife Annemarie] have done this for 20 years, hard graft day in and day out. Maybe next year at Ascot we might be able to stay here an odd night. That’s the reality, we’re over and back every day, we never stay anywhere. Maybe shortly we might be able to start doing stuff like that, living normal lives. I’ve never seen any of the cities that we go to, I go racing and go back home.” From The Guardian.

Bit early but have a bit of PUDDING 5.00 here at Brighton, whose first time visor can make the penny drop if coping with the ground.

The common knowledge here is that he isn't going anywhere and listen, we're close to home here ok, listen.

I ran into Graham Cunningham at York last year (very late on in the evening- we had both had a beer), and we were discussing the merits of Australia who had won the Juddmonte that day, and Graham said his vibe from O'Brien having had a few conversations in person was that he was possibly frustrated that he had no say in the horses plans (we were both saying how ridiculous it was that a horse of his talents and pedigree was going to avoid an Arc and be rushed off to stud), to which Graham was pretty certain that AOB is a cracking bloke away from the camera and actually very much not the decision maker in proceedings.

Oddy: No, plenty of beer, but just wasn't quite 'hot' enough for me, otherwise very good. :emoticon-0100-smile
Bustino: No not in Burma, wife cooked it from one of her (curry) recipe books. :emoticon-0100-smile

I suggested this a few weeks ago but just to back it up. If you ignore form and just blindly back all De Sousa rides you will save alot of valuable time and make a decent profit. 116 rides since the first of August. If you'd put a fiver on each one you'd currently be £200 in profit. Plus you'd be celebrating 22 winners. Whose had 22 winners on here in the first 24 days of August??

That's based on starting price by the way. A lot of De Sousa rides come in in price so if you get on early probably nearer £250 profit.

Whilst it may be working now, the fact he is Champion jockey to be means it will probably end up a quick way to the poor house eventually. They'll probably begin to shorten up on his rides but more importantly he will be booked for more and more fancied runners, meaning their SP's will be less so he could have the same strike rate yet still make a level stakes loss.

Take nothing away from the current profit though- well done. Just be wise to the inevitable.

    David O'Meara -
“I have never been approached by anyone at Coolmore regarding Ballydoyle. There is no substance to the rumour.”
