We missed the boat with Gray from Brentford.
It will be interesting to see who they can come up with when the EPL teams get 'off the potty' and stump up the money Austin is worth.
We need someone to fit, to score and to settle bloody quick; as with a defence as loose as loose as diarrhoea we need goals as a top priority.

Whilst his fee was OTT I'd agree we missed the boat a little - unless that is Austin stays.

Davis is 30 and Collins 32 according to Wikipedia. Interesting, experienced candidates but I'd worry a little about age and wages.

I wouldn't because the one thing that our team lacks is experience. Saw too many simple mistakes on Saturday.

Most of which were from the most experienced players.

Excuse me, but how big is this squad going to get? It already looks top-heavy to me; shades of last season? Needs culling already, IMHO. Which players should be sold, but pronto?

Not really. We've got 33 players listed as "first team"

That includes a few kids who aren't read (Blackwood, Lumley etc.) and a few more who are a step up from that (Brandon Comley, Furlong etc.). It also includes Diakite, who you can't expect to ever feature again. Then there are the players expected to leave (Austin, Fer, maybe Phillips and Green).

Is Mackie "Just your Substitute for another Guy", Barton? What's Mackie done wrong by the way?!

He's no good and a backward step for the club. Enough? Going by the way we played on Saturday he's unlikely to get a kick anyway.

£9m club record fee by Burnley for a player with 1 decent championship season behind him......

If Austin stays.....no don't laugh.....you could almost guarantee 25+ goals for the season providing his ligaments stay in tact......yet potential buyers are put of at £15m only 6m more for a player who scored regularly in the Prem last season......something not right but still expect a panic bid from someone this week.

If he stays with Phillips and Fer we could seriously start looking at the Play Offs being a realistic aim.....

Enough? If you like. I didn't really think he was good enough when we signed him, but now we have I hope he shows that was wrong. I have read he did well against Charlton, our MOM according to some. Maybe if Austin does go, and until he is replaced, Mackie could be our lone striker, as the alternative or stand-in for Polter.

Play-offs? That's the last thing we need why we rebuild. Anything above mid-table would be a disaster!

I feel Mackie will do a job for us. His energy brought on as a sub against tired defenders' legs could pay dividends.

I agree with SB, signing Mackie was a retrograde step and I said so when the rumors first surfaced that we were going to resign him. Don't get me wrong, I really like Jamie for his boundless energy, but that's where it ends, a lot of effort with not a lot of end product.

Well we´ve had plenty of no effort and no end product so at least we got 50% this time, give the lad chance no one player is going to play 40+ odds games this season.

I think people have selective memories. Ok, he may not have been so great at Reading and Nottingham. But for us he not only had the boundless energy but also the end product. He put away a number of goals (including important ones) and made a number of assists. His first touch is so so but when he's got the ball under control he runs at defences with reckless abandon, gets past them often and actually has some really skilful footwork in order to get past them. He's a funny sort of player... he's not naturally talented with ball skills but you can tell he practices them a lot and it has paid off.

Before you throw it at me, I know he's not the saviour or even brilliant player. But his detirmination and willingness to train, practice and perform are why he's a legend and it often has paid off when he's been in a QPR shirt.

I often wonder how many fans actually like Tony Fernandes' strategy of simply buying talented players regardless of their attitude, in a bid to find success quickly. You simply can't overestimate the impact of having characters like Derry, Hill, Mackie, Onuoha, etc. in the team.

I always give every player that pulls on the hooped shirt a chance and my full support, just a strange signing in my opinion.

I guess like a few on here said at the time of his signing that he brings good championship-level experience, no frills but plenty energy which in this league you may need from time to time, especially as it looks like a cup run is in the offering!:emoticon-0105-wink:
