    All over thank God.

Cook needs to examine this now.

Going to India may be one too many for him.

Does he go now and focus on batting only or what?

    Lyth, bell must go.

Being options have increased for seam over the test. Wood and finn have done good. Stokes is a good all rounder... broad and Anderson performed when given the exact pitch desired.... Ali took wickets again as another almost all rounder..

    Rashid to come?

    The issue now is batting.

Rashid has to come in, need two spinners for sure.

Talk of moeen opening to free up space for Rashid to come in. Could do but would be very short term look.

I I think just play 1 less seamer.

    Cook
    Hales
    Ballance
    Root
    Ali
    Taylor
    Butler
    Stokes
    Rashid
    Broad
    Anderson

then can take Rashid out for Wood/Finn on quicker wickets.

Taylor and Hales in for Lyth and Bell. Think Tatlor deserves a spot, guy scores runs for fun at county level and Ballance has been very good and was unlucky to be dropped I think given how poorly bell and Lyth did in comparison.

I dont think Ali is all that v spin... it'd say hey.. the openers are that bad just stick anyone in.

Why buttler? He's been **** and bairstow hasn't.

Ballance was in poor form... lyth scored a century v nz?

Bell was ****. Lyth a joke so yeah if Ballance has used his time to get his form better he should play

Ballance has a test average of about 45 I think.... He had a couple of bad games v Australia but he's been good before that.

    Bairstow hasn't been all that

    Only when butler was injured.

In other news, bt sport have won the rights to next ashes series over in Australia. They really are branching out and looking to become a real competitor to sky.

    yup.

I'd frankly have to say sky are really over charging so.... its getting to the point where i REALLY want to have football channel, world football channel, cricket channel.. F1 channel and pay for each

I would have to say that sky are giving F1 away but expecting football supporters to pay for it.

its really no longer worth it.

    .......................................

sure only when but.............. if he could develop keeping would he be better option as buttler frankly has been pish this series. he's got to score and look like at least getting 20/30 and he looks a liability at times.

compare this to ali at no 8.....

my point was why would selectors do what they did...

I think ballance needs to get his form right first then come in at no 3 again for bell... has to happen.

    yeah but you know... <whistle>

    Kp can do that....

    lyth can do that... :bandit:

He looks all at sea v aussies but then so did a few guys... we was poor in prior tests too... just has to look solid and not like an accident waiting to happen really and then he would be back in.

    Like i said originally.
He had a better average than Lyth, and take away the one decent score by bell, he was better than him aswell. Considering he was often coming in within the first 10 overs he actually dug in quite a lot. Think he has a future definitely, maybe not at 3 at 4 or 5 though.

    has to happen.

yes.. but better to drop out and show your work than utterly flop like lyth ad never see a cap again.

Ballance and root at 4 and 5. really looking for 1 and 3... assuming cook stays.

after that stokes and ali are more than useful players all round even if nobody rates ali as a spinner he gets wickets.

So really if wicket keeper is no 6 then thats 7 and 8 covered and then Anderson and broad have two slots and wood/finn/rashid = competition for last bowling slot.

I dunno about englands batting options... I thought at the start of this series we had batting depth but bowling was really going to struggle and then we serve up 3 pitches suiting our bowlers and win the series in 2/3 sessions in effect in each test.... when the weickets been flat we got hammered.

No. He said originally he wasn't sure but has since clarified and said he has hunger to go on so he will no doubt continue.
