Congratulations Jess Ennis Hill and Mo Farah, Lewis Hamilton and especially Usain Bolt for beating an array of drugs cheats against the odds.

Most distressing sight the tightness of Eddie Jordan and David Coulthard's trousers.

My wife is entertaining herself as the tight trousered and shirt F1 crew ('they look like sausages squeezed into to small a skin") by spotting fat Belgian girls wandering around in the background. It's all the frites and mayo.

Union Flag (it's only the Union Jack when flown at sea) flown upside down in Beijing for the Mo Farah medal ceremony. Is that a declaration of war?

The 100 metres was fascinating. Amazing to watch someone being tactically and mentally dominated in an event that lasts less than ten seconds.

Let's face it, Gatlin shouldn't have been anywhere near the event along with several others, Bolt's win was a timely salvation for the sport...

Aside from Stan's appearance on the pitch, my highlight of the weekend. Close third Eddie Jordan's trousers.

How do you know they weren't all guzzling them?

That was a terrific race. I'm glad Bolt won. What an amazing athlete. Is he the best ever?

Yes, the record books tell you that.

And it was great to see him beat the drugs cheat.

In the past, we've seen an athlete too tall for his event, who starts poorly as a result, run the middle 40 metres of the race like the others are standing still before dancing his way through the last 20. It's a sight to behold.

Imagine if he could fly out of the blocks and run flat out for the whole race? sub 9 seconds, no problem.
