Went out for a group meal last week with near 20 people. Ended up paying 35 quid each ... I didn't have any drinks bar water as was driving, didn't have a dessert as I don't really like sweet things but still we all ended up paying the same 
what should happen is the waiter brings the receipt, you look at what you've had and put the money down, plus tip, for that and that only. Simples.Is like the round system for drinking ... totally stupid
