Every time I switch on Radio 5 to see how the golf is going, all they are talking about is Tiger O'Woods. There are several English, Scottish and Welsh playing including the top two players in the rankings, why is the BBC obsessed with the Oirish?

Well the Irish have produced Harrington, McDowell, and McIlroy all major winners. What major winners have the English produced? None all you have is that fat Worksop Choker, and a bloke who hits like a girl, has he ever got on a par 5 in 2?
Regardless of rankings Westwood and Donald will never get any respect until they actually win a proper tournament!

Northern Ireland is not part of Great Britain, its part of the U.K. That's why the U.K is always refered to as GB & NI.
Ask MclIroy or GMAC where they are from and I can guarantee they wont say "Britain"

Yesterday on Radio 5 they were reporting on McIlroy shot by shot pretty much ignoring everyone else, I had to look on the internet just to get an idea of the standings.
At the end of the day the BBC will commentate on the players who they believe the general public want to hear about the most, Rory is arguably the most talented player in the world, bar Tiger Wodds and arguably Mickelson, and the guy is only 22. What he done at the US Open wasn't just a normal US Open victory, it was up there with the likes of Tiger's best performances. McIlroy is far more naturally gifted than the likes of Donald and Weatwood, who are both well in the 30s yet still majorless, and I'd invest good money that they end there careers majorless just like Monty.
The BBC know that the listeners want to hear about the likes of Rory because he is an exciting young talent, who has the potential to be remembered alongside the likes of Hogan, Palmer, Player, Nicklaus, Watson, and Woods, were as Westwood and Donald who are both majorless in there 30s are as just plain boring.

3 of the last 5 majors going to 3 different players from the leading Golfing Nation Northern Ireland, a nation with less than 3 million people. Well done Clarke cant think of a more deserving winner, he must win Sports Personality after that

The award has to go to Clarke when you consider the trajedys he has had In his personal life, and the majority of people including myself would have given him no chance of achieving his dream, and winning the Open. adding to that he is one of the most likeable sportsmen in the world, He's the everyday bloke you see down the pub, and people can relate to him, rather than a global superstar like David Beckham, who is where he is today mainly because of his looks and popstar girlfriend rather than his sporting ability.
