Unfortunately Grabban makes missing chances too much of a habit and you can't get away with that in the EPL but on overall effort, skill, speed etc he is in my opinion the best we have got apart from Jerome. Personally I would keep him as a sub option and, if we sign a new striker, sell Lafferty, Hooper and RVW using Loza as 4th striker cover.
We are 2 players short of being a pretty good side, spend £20m on a decent striker and centre back and we will do ok. The biggest problem is attracting the calibre of players needed to compete IMHO.
If teams like Palace, Newcastle and West Brom can attract the likes of Cabaye, Wijnaldum and Rondón then we should be able to attract some half decent players? If we are prepared to spend £7m on Brady then I wouldn't question whether the ambition is there and I'm sure we've got the money. It's just very frustrating how little 'meaningful transfer activity' we've had when all the teams around us seem to be making good signings.
Dunno why we couldn't attract them, we've got some of the best places to live near a major city. What other team could you play for live in a country village & still be at the club inside 30-60 mins? I wouldn't go live near Manchester or Birmingham or Leicester for £30k per week lol. You'd think the area in which you'd live would help sell it to players too, mind you suppose loads of them want wall to wall clubs with girls throwing themselves at them. Oh well forget I said anything lol
The country village draw isn't really for people in their 20s it does seem however to really keep the players around after they retire.
Speak for yourself I moved from living in city centre to a village when I was in my early 20s. You're kinda missing the point, you can have the quiet village bit but be spitting distance from city centre I doubt there's many clubs that can boast that.
I honestly think we are one centre half and one striker away from staying up. Would be a bonus if we could bring in another centre half and a direct winger. Hopefully we get our men and with Mulumbu back I think we could do better than just 17th.
Striker ASAP please - CJ can't do it all on his own. CB ASAP please - contrary to what Adams, Strachan and Hughton all thought, I don't see the combo of Martin and Whittaker as it was deployed on Saturday as being anywhere near dependable enough. It will ultimately cost us points, points I tell you
But I'm not. I'd move him across to first choice RB, retaining the arm band, by bringing a new CB in. Whittaker would then be cover for Martin. (Or Redmond, cos ho do loik ta bomb forward, bor! )
Let's not wait until January and be forced into a Dean Ashton / Ashley Ward panic buy. We need a good cb and a very good striker as mentioned above. If Jerome and Bassong get injured we are ****ed.
So who is this striker that we are going to confirm today? There haven't been many rumours except I suppose Dwight Gayle, who was with Posh a few seasons ago I think and now warms the bench for Palace. Not exactly and established premier league striker. Anyone got any ideas?
4 seasons out of 5 in the premier league surely now is the time to start thinking about investing a bit more and pushing the boat out a little.
Isn't he a bit similar in stature to RvW, thereby rendering any move a tad pointless? Don't know a great deal about him so genuine question.
