Was on the club coach and was a bit of nightmare getting up. Got there in time to hear the first goal while outside, so missed th first 15 minutes.

Once I got in, could tell we were sitting back, but Everton didn't really offer too much. They just kept pumping the ball forward to Lukaku... Who was offside a lot! We did look dangerous on the counter. Glad to see Layun out wide rather than trying to play him in the middle like last year. Anya looked dangerous when running at the defence too

The team looked absolutely knackered at the end and left it all out there... Hopefully full fitness is still to come, but that should have shown a few of the 'experts' that we are not the cannon fodder they have suggested we will be

Looking at the facts of only having 35% of the play you would think that we was giving the ball away easy But after watching the 90min on tv , It was more because we only play with one up front and with 6 new players knowing what our own player would make a run etc. We played with passion everton only started to play after 1/2 time . I like the look of all of our back 4 .

Did you know that the starting XI v Everton have 225 full international caps, with another 97 on the bench. Only Troy is not capped at any level out of the 18 in the squad.

According to a German I met, "Prodl is enormous. He's not very fast but he doesn't need to be as he is already there."

So what! They won't do very well because they have hardly any Premier League experience. Okay so some of them have played in the Champions' League, but that is not the same thing as the Prem.

According to Mark Lawrenson who predicted a sound beating for us at Everton, he climbed down a bit, admitting we actually played fairly well, but not to climb down too far thought that our set up would not work at the Vic as we would have to be more pro-active.
Does he know something we don't? Perhaps he has had a sight of next weeks team sheet.

I honestly think the only way to avoid banging our heads against brick walls this season is to completely ignore anything written by the pundits and watch the games on mute. That said, my brother listened to the game on Absolute Radio and said that Perry Groves was hilarious.

Sorry, just can't take seriously someone who failed at Chesham United. Those who can't hack management become pundits: Alan Shearer, Alvin Martin, etc.

Sunday Times was fairly complimentary. This from their match report:

"Much has been made during an eventful summer about the lack of continuity and a revolving door policy on player recruitment at Vicarage Road, but for large swathes of this entertaining contest it was Everton who played like total strangers, not their new look opponents"

"...well organised in defence - where Sebastien Prodl was outstanding - and swift and industrious further up the field..."

I don't have access to the online version (I thought I did?). Have to admit, I did look at it, but these items I tend to just pass over. The piece is a pot shot at the 'instability' at Watford and how Flores should be the bookies favourite for the sack and not Mr Integrity.

It's titled: Who will be first to get the bullet? Watford's latest manager likely to be season's first casualty but Rodgers will be safe.

"JUST how did Watford make it to the Premier League? The club seems to be run in a manner which can kindly be described as “a bit odd”. A man called Quique Sanchez Flores is the manager, but if I were a Hornets fan I wouldn’t get a replica shirt printed with his name too quickly.

Sanchez Flores has enjoyed a fairly patchy managerial career and, save for a very brief stint indeed at Madrid’s suburban also-rans, Getafe, his most recent achievements have been in the might of the Pro-League, the United Arab Emirates’ top division.

Pot shots follow at Flores' record (winning Europa League is dismissed very lightly).

"...it wouldn't surprise me terribly much if he was the first premier league manager to bite the dust, and did so before the final test gets underway, or maybe before Root and Broad et al have recovered from their hangovers'.

It's just another fat, lazy journo trying to make jokes at others expense. Let's face it, he's a Millwall fan, so he knows **** all about football and even less about the Premier League.

Thanks Bloother - I like these articles as they give me a good laugh! :)
Just as the uneducated pundits do.

I hope we do well as I can then watch them squirm whilst sucking on sour grapes! :)
