Watford R's a QPR fan, which is why he's got an interest in the Austin rumour.

Kane's very easy to market, especially for Spurs. Works hard, keeps his nose clean, says all the right things and scores a ton of goals.
The fact that he's a player successfully coming through the youth system probably shouldn't be such a shock, but it is.
Everyone jumps on a local lad done well story and his was massive last season.

WTF, we've sold Fredericks to Bristol City? Surely he was better than that?
Yeah, I'm quite surprised by that one, too. He did have a few injury problems, but I expected a bigger side to move for him.
Good luck to him, though. Hopefully he'll continue his development and we'll see him in the Premier League again.
With the speculation that Illaramendi is surplus to requirements in Madrid, we should surely be all over this and trying to get a deal done we must me able to match anything that Liverpool can offer
Not sure if the rumour's accurate, as he took part in the Audi Cup and came on against us, but if it is then we should go for him.
He'd seem to fit the part very well.

If Sterling = £50m then Kane (who is a considerably better forward) is worth more

Arguably although completely different positions. But then if you compare it only to a massively overpriced player then it's not a particularly fair comparison. No one would say Benteke was cheap but he's scored goals in this league now for quite a few years. We're struggling to get £15m for Austin who scored 18 goals in a terrible side, has as much Prem experience as Kane and has been scoring goals across the leagues for a lot longer.

Can't believe how riled people get over that comment. Spurs are a big club of course but is it really that controversial to not think of them as a major Premier League force or whatever the quote was taking all factors into account?
Why feel the need to make the point. We know where we stand in the scheme of things, best of the rest outside the top 4 (arguably with Liverpool). I don't feel the need to go to the QPR board and tell you all that you are a Championship side who flatters to deceive, cause why would I want to stir up the posters there.

Yes, on the face of it, £40mill is a daft price for a striker who's had less than one complete, successful season. However, if he does even 3/4 as well this season, his price will rise dramatically. He's just 21, English, and as PNP has alluded to, a seemingly model professional. So, the conundrum for any potential buyer is, do we think he's the real thing? If so, then if you could get him for say £35mill, you would have got a bargain. If he isn't!....

Austin's older, scored less, wants to leave and plays for a club in the Championship, though.
I'm sure that I don't have to tell you about Levy Tax, with you being a QPR fan. You've seen it in action enough already.

I am quite surprised that nobody's been willing to match your valuation for Austin, though.
I'd be pretty happy with him and Berahino joining as our Soldado and Adebayor replacements, though it's be pretty costly.

I wouldn't have mentioned it if Spurf wasn't trying to put me down for supporting a team not in the elite, as if that makes someone less knowledgeable. On average, it tends to be the opposite.

AS far as I am concerned you were trying to WUM hence my gentle put down. If you have no knowledge of the impact that Kane has made then you can hardly expect us to take your opinions on the player seriously can you! Kane has been a media sensation and called up for England, whether that is justified or not is open to debate but to say you had not noticed is really beyond belief for a football fan. You were on the wind up so stop moaning if you get a little back and try to raise your game a bit, we tend to debate respectfully on the Spurs board. <ok>

Reports coming in that Adebayor to Villa is off, supposedly he was "failed to be persuaded to leave London."

Wouldn't surprise me if this was legit, he's got himself a £100k p/w contract for the season and he's going to be nowhere near a football pitch so he can just put his feet up and continue doing nothing. He was difficult at City towards the end, and is continuing to show that trait with us now.

Well you've got me wrong then. Obviously I'm aware of Kane and the impact he had last season but think it's a bit of a stretch to call him a media sensation. The media have gone a bit over the top with him though, admittedly, perhaps in part because of the level of exposure Spurs get.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. If Levy and Villa can't agree on the split in wages, he sure as hell ain't going to take one penny of a cut!

Watford R :Is Harry Kane a marketing attraction? He can barely talk.
Spurf said:
You didn't notice all the media stuff about him then!
Watford R :Must have missed it.

Spurf said:
No he's not a god just yet but he has had sufficient impact to make the media use him as speculation that United would buy him for £40 million. Football quickly produces heroes especially if he is playing for a major PL club. This should be fairly self evident to any one who follows PL football. Less so to a fan of Watford perhaps.

Watford R:Maybe he'll be playing for a major Premier League club soon then.

If that is not Wumming then it's a pretty poor level of debate.

Please do start again if you like and we will forget all this and move on.

Levy is WAY too tight for that and Adebayor almost certainly would want the full amount owed to him rather than strike some sort of deal.

True but either way he isn't going to kick a ball again for us, so why have him around polluting the atmosphere on the training ground when we could just get rid? It's surely the best of a lose-lose situation if Villa falls through.

In a way, Ade is an idiot. His reputation has ****ed his chances of finding another decent payday. Chicharito has reputedly been offered $10mill to play in the MLS. Ade could be looking at the same kind of payday himself, if he want such a lazy pain in the arse!

Very true, even moving him down to the reserves won't help because it still gets in the press and the players all know he's still there despite not being there.

I wonder if how long the line would be for him if he were a free agent? Some teams would take him just because he has experience at top BPL and La Liga teams but I reckon one or two would be put off by him being "such a lazy pain in the arse!"

I wouldn't pay him off, I would retain his registration so that he can't go anywhere else, because as a free agent he would almost certainly find someone else to pay him. I would just give him a years 'gardening leave' tell him to keep away from club facilities
