DISCLAIMER: This is not a match day thread. I'm merely making this one in the interim.

So Cabaye and Bolasie are back in training. Will they be ready by Saturday? Will it matter? Do we even care?
 
I think this should be the match day thread. ;)


If rushing Bamford back for the p-o final in an attempt to give the team a "boost" is anything to go by, I'd rather see them both in the starting line-up barely fit and playing tentatively. Difficult to say though - I think the first match of the season is such a toss up, it's almost not worth worrying too much about players and fitness because there's no real "form" at this stage. And given our record in opening day fixtures, it might well make no difference at all...

You're right. First day of the season is so difficult to call.

Normally I would agree with such a comment but I have a dreadful feeling about the opening game with Palace. They have been excellent under Pardew and have bought really well during the summer. I would not be at all surprised if we lost this game by a 2 goal margin.

As of today, I would have them as dark horses for a European qualifying place in the PL this time round.

Massive relief - Lawro has tipped us to lose.

He might find one or two games this season he thinks we can scrape three points (ie home to Watford/Bnmth). This, of course, isn't one of them.
