Season end and onwards is always quiet, it's not only the excessive wages of players that can afford a holiday. Last year was dire on every board except the Liverpool board because they all thought it was their year
Indeed. They are an especially touch little bunch are the Arsenal fans on here. I have always marvelled at how weird it is. Because in real life, half my family and some of my best friends support Arsenal (including my best man from my wedding), and they are all sound. In my town, the biggest bell ends are by far the Liverpool fans. On this site is the exact opposite. Most of the absolute knob jockeys on Not606 are from the Arsenal camp, and the Liverpool fans on here are, for the most part, hilarious and a great laugh.
I was merely trying to help you with your query. Unlucky yesterday! It's only the charity shield though eh!
Chelsea fans will always live to fight another day. Depending on how the season pans out I'm not so sure Mourinho will be there if things turn out differently from how he envisaged. I Think the tell tell signs are there for another cracked eggs breakdown. An interesting season ahead.
For what its worth I believe, and I said as much a while back, that we are in for a **** season. And it wouldn't surprise me at all if Mourinho is gone at the end of it. I don't really know why I have this underlying feeling of dread for the coming season, but I do. Its not really based on anything other than a lack of signings. I hope I am proved wrong though.
It's because deep down you know he is a worse loser than winner. A character like that is never a long term solution due to his volatility when things go against you.
Surely Abramovich can't make a habit of sacking managers a year after they win a double. That would be insane.
Selling Cech to them was a massive mistake but we pissed the league last season, I wouldn't worry too much.
I understand why Bod & Jimmy feel that way - perhaps because this is 3rd season for Jose? But Agree with Drogs 100%. Should walk the league with 2 or 3 decent covers in Defense & Attack. Still, I think goons will be the challengers, that makes it lot easier for me. We can give them 9pts and still make that up in the last 10 or so matches!! Trust in Arsene!!
Don't worry @CFC: Champions of FFP took over from him(still think its the same person) I'm sure he will resume the flooding of the Chelsea boards with Man United topics in a few weeks
I definitely don't think we'll walk it. United, Arsenal and City have strengthened in some capacity and I think it'll be a lot more interesting this season. I just don't think there's anything to be down about as we still have the best squad in the league IMO and we'll only be stronger this season. We could definitely do with a better cover in midfield but who knows if we'll get one.
I know guys, my fear is more a gut feeling than based on anything concrete. Probably a combo of: a) Not making a lot of signings while our rivals seem to have strengthened b) Being the defending Champions c) Third season Like, I said, I hope to proved wrong, and made to look a paranoid fool
The way Arsenal played against you to beat you in the Community Shield was telling. It was a very un Arsenal like approach to the game but it worked. Other teams will likely follow suit and encourage Chelsea to try and break them down. As has been pointed out, most teams in the PL have strengthened while Chelsea have stood still, presumably because Abramovich isn't prepared to spend any more money, so the same Chelsea as last season will be up against stronger teams in most matches this season. I'd still put you down as favourites but it will be interesting to see whether Mourinho can win a title without spending a butt load of money in a summer transfer window (cue London's Saddest Statistician wittering on about net spend).
As was the case in about 30 of our league games last year! If you watched us every week like I do, we dominate most games and have done for a number of years. Turning that dominance into wins was the difference between last year and the previous year where we didn't win the title. It's only really against the other top teams where we sit back a bit more and play on the counter. Can't see City, Liverpool for instance trying to play defensive against us. People are aware it's a one off friendly aren't they?!?!
