I think we will move in that direction under Ramsey. Chery looked good today and we seem now to have a group of midfield players that can pass the ball - apart from Henry.
I went today. Biggest plus was chery. Always wanting the ball always moving. Thought both Hall and Blackwood both have great potential. The latter looks very fast and keen to get in behind a defence. Hall just played it simple and to me looked good. I didn't think we looked too good as a team though. Thought perch was poor. Ale gave some simple passes away but that's just my opinion.
Blackwood and Hall are both 23. If they were both at that level at 17\18 i'd say fair enough but they're not and they're never going to be good enough or they would have done more than they have by now. Hall lost his man on a ball into the box and ended up marking no one and they should have scored from that.
Faurlin did do a couple of poor passes but think you are being hyper critical. He can be forgiven for being a bit rusty after such a long injury. He did also make a couple of long passes that the likes of Henry couldn't even think about attempting. Also have a look at his pass for Phillips disallowed goal in our last game. The guy is the best player we have if we can keep him fit. Nice to see he did actually go in for a couple of proper challenges as well.
Also as mentioned above boo's were 100% from the Atalanta fans
Blackwood in my opinion looked a good sharp player in the short amount of time he had on the pitch. Always looking for a run on the shoulder of the last defender. Bit of a silly statement to say that because they are 23 ish that they should have done more by now. Take a look at austins career. I don't think I can remember hall giving a pass away and always looked to play a pass rather than hump it. Just my opinion Peter. Of course faurlin will be rusty and I rate the guy but don't think he will start against charlton.

When you think how Arsenal have had to take a back seat in the top four since rebuilding the club by that I mean stadium etc ... It's simply a joy to watch them and credit to Wenger who I put ahead of SAF as the best manager we have had in the UK
Arsenal fans should be ashamed of trying to get him the sack Frankly he is Arsenal
I think Chelsea are very strong but having had them put on me as a child I really do not like them or what they represent
I am really looking forward to watching on here as the knives will be out for CR by next Sunday
Rebuild means exactly that
We have a terrible management at our club who are now all exposed let's hope our football improves and I think it will

Henry is just an enforcer and a very good one at that I can't compare him and Faurlin
I am not sure that anything will be worth looking at until September IMO
Don’t get the Austin reference. When he was 23 he had already scored 40 odd goals for Burnely having signed for them for a couple of million a year or so before. And that was after a couple of years of more than a goal a game for Swindon.
Blackwood has been released by Northampton and Barnet. While Hall might be able to pass a ball better than your average ‘hoof it’ centre half he lost his man a couple of times and was sent back from his loan half way through a season long loan by Birmingham. These guys are nowhere near good enough for the first team.
Personally expect Faurlin to start. We are trying to play football this year. So once this Dutch guy comes in and we get some more numbers in I reckon we’ll see Henry sent elsewhere on loan.
Of course you can compare him to Faurlin. They play the same position.
Difference is Henry only does one side of the game. Faurlin will win just as many if not more tackles than Henry and he’ll get involved getting the team going moving forward and creating chances. His variation of passing and ability to move the ball forward and not solely sideways and backwards.
Henry is an extremely limited player, his lack of ability means he hides from certain sides of the game and people judge him by extremely low expectations. He doesn’t fit into a team that will try to play football.
Agree about henry but many players don't make it at clubs only to make it elsewhere. That's where opinions come in to play. Just cos one manager/coach doesn't think someone is good enough doesn't mean another won't think he is good enough. I personally like the look of Blackwood and Hall. I think Blackwood will only get better which will be good for us
So did Brian Robson and Ray Wilkins. Wouldn't say they can be compared. Style of player is as important as position. Must be so nice living in such a black and white world. Sadly in my experience, the world isn't so cut and dry.

Without going too far off topic lets look at the team that started yesterday. If you were to put Henry in that side and drop one player. You would have to look at Faurlin and Luongo only.
Faurlin and Henry are both holding midfielders and directly competing for the same spot in the team. If you could magically select a young Robson or Wilkins and dropped them in that side. Robson’s goal scoring record to me suggests that he would not have been disciplined enough to play a holding role as he would have left that spot to get in goal scoring positions and so he would have to take Chery’s free role spot.
Wilkins by contrast would also look at taking either Faurlin or Luongo’s spot.
For your Wilkins and Robson comparison to work I would have had to have said that Chery and Henry play the same position but they don’t and i didnt say that.
I think you were trying to cast out the loose centre midfielder phrase, which technically could encompass everything from a Makele role to a free role for Adel. Henry and Faurlin are both holding midfielders and they are therefore justified in direct comparison.
I'd say Henry is an enforcer type player where as Faulin is a ball playing midfielder. Quite different (imo)
Well actually Faulrin is the best at making tackles and interceptions in our side.

I know its an old article but Faurlin's game hasnt changed since then. Tackles and incerceptions per game like those stats. What else does an enforcer do?
Faurlin is both a ball playing midfielder and ‘an enforcer’. Faurlin is actually better than Henry at the ‘enforcer’ side of the game but as he is not such a limited footballer he does the other side as well.
Henry is just a very limited footballer and for some reason people think we can carry his dead weight of offering nothing going forward. Faurlin’s long range passing to Phillips so far this pre-season shows that his role doesn’t need to be so limited. He raises it up a level. Henry gets away with it because people have set such low expectations for him. He doesn’t do certain things going forward badly, like Barton did. It’s even worse than that… he doesn’t do them at all!!
So he's a better tackler. So what. His STYLE OF PLAY is that of a ball playing midfielder, where as Henry is an enforcer. I'm talking about style of play, not stats mate. There's lies, dam lies and then there's statistics. Stats on their own are somewhat misleading. I'm not bigging up Henry as such just pointing out the flaw of trying to compare player on position alone.
Let's not act like Faurlin is going to play 40+ games this season, we're going to need Henry in certain games where our backs are against the wall and he can break up their play whilst giving our back 4 some protection.
As a man-marker, he's very effective. The job he did to shut down Ivanovic against Chelsea proved that.
