With the sale of Rudy Gestade the Venkys have claimed to have knocked back a bid of £12m from Middlesborough for Rhodes. The football world is mad if a second tier club can "afford" to pay that for a player who has no experience of a higher level.
Read Sunderland are interested in him, I sort of want him to go there as I'm curious to actually see how well he will do in the Premier League.
On transfer market.co.uk Balotelli is valued at £7.7m Rhodes £7m I know that could mean anything up to 3 times their true value but which would you rather have in yellow and green If the wages were the same ?.
I'm really not a fan of Balotelli, clearly talented but a massive liability. Among my friends we refer to scoring two goals and getting sent off as a Balotelli Hatrick
Balotelli is a semi lunatic and a risky purchase for anybody. Rhodes is solid but unproven at the higher level. To me though, a safer bet.
There has to be something about Rhodes that has prevented his progress, like Freddie Eastwood/Ladbrokes....Robert Fleck/paying bills....Dean Ashton/dodgy legs
I love the fact that the only assist he's ever made in the premier league was the one for Aguero's goal against Koo Pee Arr that won them the league in such last gasp fashion
Middlesbrough are poised to offer Blackburn £14m for Rhodes, according to this fount of footballing knowledge! That shows serious intent for the coming season. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-striker-Jordan-Rhodes-new-14m-bid-cards.html
........or just serious bank account and onbody else better to spend it on. He is a potentially really good striker but £14m? - Jeez!
This is all a product of the inability of the football league to enforce FFP, the QPR debacle has shown teams that the gamble of spending big to try to get to the PL is worth it. As they'll probably get away with it.
