Curious booking for the Queen's colt Dartmouth tomorrow at Goodwood as Peslier is in the plate. He's hardly been enticed over for a ride on Boomerang Bob in the Steward's Cup has he? Dartmouth was a smashing winner last time out and I was slightly surprised he didn't get an entry in the Gordon's. I think he has a great chance. The Queen has had plenty of winners ridden by Italians (well one) and Americans but I can't recall a Frenchman riding a winner for HM.

Meanwhile she could have a D-Double as Durcan, jocked-off Dartmouth, gets the leg up on her debutant Diploma at Newmarket. By super-sire Dubawi (9 Group 1s this year) out of a listed Montjeu mare this filly has been reported as catching the eye on the gallops. Stoute doesn't often win many first time out but this time he may make an exception.

PYROMANIAC has been priced up by bet365 at 6/1 for 5 places for tomorrow's 3.15 at Galway. It nearly got into Galway Hurdle and was fancied to run well. Another Tony Martin peach looks an each-way shot to nothing for me and definately want to be on it.

Wood Breizh 8/1 in the Galway 3.15 is my idea of a decent each way chancer in a lottery looking race. Ran creditably on Monday night in a flat race up behind the likes of Modem and Ted Veale who are rated 11lbs and 21lbs higher than Woody and Ted Veale showed that even his mark wasn't too bad yesterday. Obviously the crook of crooks Mr Martins PYROMANIAC also will have plenty up his sleeve too, but this time it's the most honest and honourable Mr Mullins whose charge lurks at the bottom of the weights.

    Trying to land the impossible double at Goodwood tomorrow;

Really like SEEKING MAGIC 22-1 in the consolation race. Won it two years ago and Clive Cox has a stunning record in the race. A couple of pounds lower tomorrow and screaming at me that this will have been the target for some time.
In the main event I will be on ASHPAN SAM 40-1 who has been good to me in the past. He will love being where the pace is and certainly acts on the track. The rare sight of a claimer on him is surely to give him the best possible chance.
I wouldn't be surprised if Pricewise isn't looking in and follows me on Seeking Magic.

What are they doing making a 3yo fav for the Stewards? When did one ever win it!?

    15:45 Goodwood - Tropics e/w

(The Stewards' Cup is as difficult as ever but I will go with Dean Ivory's fine sprinter in this mad dash. Running very well of late and can still put in a good show with his big weight. Far side draw OK now the ground has dried-out considerably. Took 16/1 e/w with PP).

He's Timeform Top rated stick - just. 16 within 5lbs at the top. RPR top rated. Been posting decent times. Dettori up. But first time against older horses. Maybe the 3yos haven't been the form pick before and/or maybe Hills knows something (cf Muhaarar).

Were any of them favs or in with a strong chance though. Stats can be useful but if the stats next year say only 1 from 18 have won that might also tell you all you need to know next year. It does look as though it will take some winning though. The hustle and bustle will favour the stronger older horses and that could easily wipe out the pound or 2 he has over them.

Only because I couldn't find an alternative and I like stats being broken. If I was having a pound ew on the course I'd probably go for Robot Boy at 40/1

    3.45 Goodwood - Discussiontofollow 14/1 (B365)

6th in this last year off only 2lb less and has been running well over 5F this season and I think the return to 6F will see this one go close , at that price a great each way bet.

    Cheers Trevez

Diamondsandrubies is a very fair 4/1 in the Nassau. Loves the trip. Looks a balanced horse. Front running could really play to her strengths on this course again.

    Goodwood
    6.00 Yeager 10-1

Carries top weight and could be a cut above these.

So glad from a betting perspective that Goodwood finishes today as it has been a poor one for me, however I've picked out 3 which some have already been put up.

3.45 TROPICS - Big weight to carry but won a better race lto.
4.55 DENZILLIE LANE - In form and will put a line through last race as it was soft going that day.
6.00 YEAGER - Should have run here earlier in the week in a better race but was pulled out due to the ground being soft.

Up at Doncaster there are a couple of Hannon/Levy runners I'm interested in. About a month ago when at Redcar he had 3/3 and I think lightening may strike twice with these 2.

    1.45 HUMPHREY BOGART
    2.55 PUTTING GREEN

Finally at Thirsk in the 6f and 7f races I'm going for a high and low runner due to there being a big bias towards them.

    3.35 ART OBSESSION

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

Well done yesterday TopClass. That donkey Connecticut of Cumani’s did neither of us any good! His have been rubbish all week so his one runner at Goodwood today will probably bolt up.

After the poorly-ridden Osaila getting beaten by the 33/1 French raider Amy Eria that did not want fast ground yesterday, Alain De Royer Dupre’s Cladocera at 20/1 will probably rout the rubbish three year olds in the Nassau.

Goodwood this week has become a complete joke. At the start of the week the going was “soft”, by Thursday it had dried out to “good” so they turn on the taps overnight. Have these morons been taking lessons from the French?

So to Saturday: forget the bookie-friendly races at 2:00, 3:45, 4:20 and 6:00.

Given the way that Sir Michael Stoute’s have been running this week, I would not want to be on Dartmouth in the 2:35. Mark Johnston is clearly keen to win it with four starters (three near the bottom of the weights) and Novancia looks the most likely of them. The progressive Barreesh steps up in trip but he was beaten on fast ground here a couple of races ago. The handicapper has not relented on Antiquarium and it is hard to see him conceding weight all around. There should be no lack of pace as improving Senrima (over further) and RIVER DART (over shorter) both went from the front last time but I think the latter looks the most likely although raised 8lb for last time.

It is a great shame that none of the top older fillies are contesting the Nassau Stakes as that probably means that an unworthy three year old is going to collect. Legatissimo won a poor 1000 Guineas and was subsequently beaten by a Ballydoyle donkey in The Oaks. Diamondsandrubies made all and beat the Guineas winner in their last race. Lady Of Dubai was third in The Oaks and Jazzi Top was fifth. It would not be the first time that the Gosden second-string had won if the latter prevailed whilst the former’s stable has disappointed this week. Star Of Seville stole the Prix de Diane last time but will find it harder to dictate here and she did not like downhill Epsom so will the track suit? Wedding Vow lost her maiden tag on easy ground last time. There are good reasons not to back anything and just watch.

At Newmarket in the 5:45, MISTER BRIGHTSIDE easily won a mediocre race on the track last time by four lengths and has been raised six pounds, which is not excessive enough to stop him completing a hat-trick dropping back to six furlongs, over which he won his maiden easily. The bookies think the same as he is best priced 7/4 currently.
