What about beyond that? By beyond I reckon Bruce has got more targets identified should we lose Elmo, Huddlestone or anyone else we'd rather keep.
What can go on in contracts is beyond barmy. I made a point in another post somewhere in this thread about it. I heard an ex agent once having a chat on talksport late at night and some of the examples of things that get put in players contracts for both club or player are beyond belief.
The 21 day thing does seem ridiculous. Would that still apply if you smashed the release clause? Say the release was £3.5m but we bid £4.5m does the 21 day rule still apply? There must become a point where it's back in the hands of the player? I have never heard of this 21 day rule in the UK before.
I'm guessing there's some strikers lined up other than Gray, if we lose all 3, looks unlikely at the moment as no one will cough up the money yet, then we'll need some more up top!
It does sound silly and probably untrue but stranger clauses and bonuses hve happened. Remember Neymar got a clause for his dad to have free coffee and a gangbang in a London hotel when he signed for Barca.
I can't see us waiting 21 days for him (is that even a thing?). If there's a release clause, then surely that's it.. He's free to speak to the other club.
MLS: I agree that some aspects of the MLS may not be relevant to the UK but I'm sure clubs/players could incorporate other aspects into contracts.
What if there are less than 21 days left in the transfer window? Then I suppose you would have to have less than 21 days. I bet someone had a fun time writing it.
This is moneyball right here. Brentford have worked out that, statistically, 21 days was the optimum length of time.
If I was a manager I would let it be known I was interested in a few players in each position. That would concentrate the minds of the selling clubs!
