Because that what Leicester have. At least we've both had proper hot weather conditioning training. I'd like Sunderland to pass on the US next season though, The work permit situation means often players can't go and new signings can't join up. But the hot weather double sessions will stand both teams in good stead fitness wise next season.

 

Since when does training in hot weather do you any good? All it does is knacker you and make you sweat. Maybe if you want to get used to playing in a hot climate but not sure Sunderland and Newcastle fall into this category. If you want to do some serious fitness conditioning training then maybe do some altitude training and go and play in Bolivia or Peru. An added benefit might be Williamson being arrested as a drugs mule (everyone says he's a donkey!).
I would suspect these overseas trips are designed with two purposes in mind:
1) build a sense of team spirit which you maybe don't get if you stay at home
2) introduce the clubs to a wider audience
I would argue that playing Lincoln City Mansfield Town Burton AlbionRotherham UnitedBirmingham City would do a lot more for getting the players in shape. These are more likely to be competitive and played at a pace more similar to the Premier League. Playing in hot climates just promotes a slower pace of play which doesn't acclimatise players to the speed of the PL at all.
Leicester did their overseas trip at the end of the season which to me is a more sensible way to do it. Although maybe Bangkok wasn't the best idea!

 

I've seen that video. Pretty blimmin stupid of those lads to let that get out. Agree with the pre-season thoughts. We never seem to have a sensible plan.

 

I reckon in future we should be planning trips/tourneys to places like France Spain Germany italy or holland. No doubt you can find some talented footballing teams out there, you get the team building aspect of being away, its not too much of a journey and usually alot of these places have very good weather in July so you be assurred it will be hard work!

 

We went to America because the fat kunt at the top wants to open his tat shops there. End of SDtory. We couldn't even play Portland Timbers first team and I didn't even know there was a Portland Timbers. We are NUSD.

 

Catch up mate, most the pro sports team who can afford it are doing it. Many teams are going abroad mid season too for hot weather training.

Apologies I stand corrected. Will have to start subscribing to the Journal of Applied Physiology. Having lived and exercised at 34deg C for 25years I can vouch for the fact that the body does learn to sweat more quickly to control body temperature. However this is certainly not an advantage when you come back to a cold climate. There is nothing more unpleasant than being drenched in sweat immediately you start running when it's freezing outside.
Still believe that the high altitude training would have a much greater benefit.

 

I say hot weather training but it's the humidity they're there for isn't it? It's about conditioning init, long term fitness, both our teams will still be very leggy from that training and probably will be for a while yet, but the long haul means fitter players and less injuries as the season goes on. I don't know the science behind it, but in the 13/14 Paulo went over board on it and we started the season dead on our legs and were knocked from pillar to post, as the season went on Gus benefited from it as we we're visibly fitter than nearly all our opponents 2nd half of the season. By the time the great escape came along we were still going 90 minutes comfortably while teams were deteriorating around the 70 minute mark. That was an extreme example and it really did shoot us in the foot for the first quarter of the season.

I was under the impression that high altitude and high humidity brought the same benefits? As it's both training with reduced oxygen?

Not at all mate, I thought you might want to read about Totalitarians as it's very interesting. I did a bit about it at school about it and read a bit into it when PDC came to the club so I could decide about him off the back of research as my knowledge was limited to the the rise of the nazi party, the second world war and the Cold War.

I wouldn't throw away your Swastika either, If I had a ignorant outlook and focused on the Nazi use and made uninformed comments it would make me a fool. For instance in Buddhism it's called the yungdrung and means eternal. The Swastika symbol has been used by many civilisations and religions spanning centuries.
