I think, if fit, the first team is pretty spot on to what it will be. Maybe Benteke in for Sturridge, just think for the good of the team Sturridge is the better striker and generally suits better. Only real arguable two are Moreno in for Gomez and maybe Allen in for Can (I could see Rodgers doing that).

Forgot about Lallana, him in for Tex and I don't think Ings would get in ahead of Origi. It's all theoretical of course, knowing Rodgers Lallana, Allen and Lucas will all be in the first eleven against Stoke. I was just trying to demonstrate squad strength (we'll see) and that we're lacking a DM still (all knew that anyway)

except he's got a dicky hip and i dont see him back.

after watching preseason i can say ings will work hard but origi isn't ready, just isnt.

don't forget that knowing rodgers lovern will be in team 1 as well.

I agree we re missing a CM but we've done nearly everything i asked for in may.... i asked for full backs, gomez is a steal.. clyne is cheap... i asked for a forward. we got one. i asked for a am we got one.

Would we? Moreno played a lot better when he was in a back 4 and next to Sakho. He's had a year to adapt and get used to the PL.

And with Can in the DM role, hopefully he can cover more ground to provide more protection.

Moreno couldn't defend for **** based on his showing last season, he was constantly caught out of position, with him and Coutinho (who'd naturally go inside) covering that flank, you'd be massively exposed, and opposition managers would set up to exploit that obvious weakness.

We will be playing 4-3-3
Mignolet

Clyne
Skrtel
Sakho
Moreno

Henderson
Can
Milner

Firmino
Coutinho

Bentek

The problem I have with that team is there are too many central players and not enough pace. We'd be easily stifled, unfortunately though I think that will be pretty close to our first eleven.

You'd get raped down your left hand side if you fielded that side.

How can you stick Ilori into your first team when you've never seen him kick a ball in the PL btw?

Because I'd sooner give a top class talent like Ilori a season and allow him to develop than watch Skrtel make countless mistakes as per usual.

He was caught out of position because he was asked to play higher up, which he is not used to.

Skrtel, Lovren and Johnson couldn't defend for sh*t as well, and all 3 are worse.

I'm referring to the constant 'chucking under the bus' from fans, manager and captain.

And the manager certainly has not done his most to get the best of Mario. Any decent manager would have played to players strengths - Mario has never played well as a lone striker and persisting with him in such a role was ridiculous.

Mario has at least scored 1 in 3 pretty much everywhere he has been. But he failed miserably at Liverpool for some reason.

Manager has done very well to deflect blame this season.
If they all had a strop because of what the fans said we'd have nobody at the club.<laugh>
The manager and captain both had to work with him, so I'll accept that they know him better than any of us.

Anyway, we're never going to agree on this so I'll just leave it here.

He's made a grand total of 21 league appearances in his entire career so far, encompassing 3 seasons at 3 different clubs. He only got 12 outings last season for Bordeaux ffs.

How can you conclude from that, that he's good enough to be first pick for Liverpool in the toughest league in the World

Because:

a) It's not the toughest league in the world
b) He's performed well at his short stints in different league
c) Skrtel is sh*t
d) He's very talented.
e) Defenders like Agger and Varane started early
f) He will make mistakes but he's had blistering speed so he can get back and recover

When I watched him last season he was positionally poor, his reactions to danger situations were ponderous and he made plenty of defensive errors. I'm far from convinced by him. Going forwards he looked a player though tbf.

It's way better than the French League and he couldn't get a starting berth for Bordeaux, that tells me he's far from the finished article and isn't going to dislodge Skrtel from the off.

Could be wrong but I think he got injured early on, then the apps he did make came back when he returned to fitness.

I'm bored of the idiots having a go at Balotelli.

A player comes in with no pre-season. His own ability to settle is limited by injury. The rest of the team is also completely unsettled due to injury and other signings forcing him to mostly be played out of position/without support, and mostly being asked to rescue the game.

But after 16 appearances (6 as sub) he is somehow the worst thing ever [HASHTAG]#scapegoat[/HASHTAG]

If he goes for a decent price then fine but if he stays he strengthens our squad.

Most sensible thing i've ever heard astro say that is actually not with the standard pro liverpool gloss

You're asking £7.1m for him according to Sampdoria, who've said they'll take him if you sharpen your pencil <laugh>

He's kicked his last banana shot as a Liverpool player mate.

Sorry.....

Positionally, can't judge him IMO - because was asked to play far higher than normal, thanks to Rodgers's high expectations on full backs.

Agree - he did make basic errors as did the more experienced players i.e. Lovren, Skrtel and Johnson. Difference is, Moreno is young, new to the country and style. He's got a high ceiling of potential and is proven to be a lot better at Sevilla.

Wow - I'm in complete agreement with you!

The links to Digne are interesting - a few reliable journos have confirmed interest, and other reliable ones deny it.

Watch this space.

For that price I prefer he stays

Also, the price isn't going to be less than that after waiting a year

Wages is a consideration, but not my problem so unless there's someone else coming in to use them I don't care
