Slightly happier*. He's a good player and would be a slight improvement on Moreno IMO. But someone mentioned this previously - I hope it's a permanent signing and not a loan. There is no point loaning Digne, developing him for 12 months and giving him back - to the detriment of Moreno's development. But these two are talented full backs - Moreno is not that bad. It was a tough first season where most of our team struggled. He's still young and raw. Digne is better defensively and has a bit more finesse to his game whereas Moreno is more direct. Helps with Digne playing next to Sakho as well. Nice options to have at full back.
Anyone who is being paid a not-so-small fortune to do so? I wanted Balotelli to work for us, but sadly he brings this on himself. If our club is a bunch of arseholes (out of order imo) then so apparently are every other club he plays for because the same thing happens everywhere.
it says it all that it was done as if they did it to a real player he'd walk up to brent and say you'll sack the internet dickhead before i play or train for you again. luckily balotelli isnt a real player
I'm not having that mate - they are humans. They're not immune to criticism or feeling emotion. Imagine being lambasted by your own 'fans', your manager, the media and even your own captain. And for what? Do you think 'lack of movement' warrants such vilification? It often gets forgotten but he's a guy who has suffered a lot throughout his life - being adopted, racially abused in his home country to name a few things. On top of that, he's only 24 years old. He scored the winning goal in a match, only for his captain to publicly criticise him. He wasn't even playing in one game where we dropped points, and Rodgers started talking about Mario! H
that would back my call. wisdom is not rated by rodgers. wisdom is now behind gomez in the pecking order after preseason (where he got 45mins at lb) the new contract only serves to ensure a good selling fee.
And I'm not having that we have somehow let him down when he is repeating more or less the same scenario that he has throughout his career. Everywhere he's been the same thing happens. You need to ask yourself who is the common denominator here. I wanted him to be a success and I'm sorry he hasn't been- but the blame lies with him. I really feel sorry for the guy- I think he's pretty screwed up, tbh- but blaming everyone around him doesn't wash with me.
I still think we need a top class DM, if we fielded two teams we'd struggle in both teams. We look pretty sorted in every area (besides CB) GK: Mignolet, Bogdan CB: Sakho, Skrtel, Toure, Lovren, Ilori RB: Flanagan, Clyne LB: Moreno, Gomez DM: Allen, Lucas CM: Can, Henderson, Milner AM: Firmino, Coutinho, Markovic, Ibe, Tex ST: Sturridge, Benteke, Origi, Ings -------------Mignolet-------------- Clyne--Skrtel--Sakho--Gomez ---------------Can------------------ ---------Hendo---Milner---------- -------------Coutinho------------- --------Firmino--Sturridge------ -------------Bogdan---------------- Flanno--Ilorri--Lovren--Moreno ----------Lucas--Allen------------ ----Ibe---------------------Tex--- ---------Benteke--Origi--------
stop forgiving the asshole.. you've no idea what he is like in training. he's dropped like a stone when rodgers has no forwards etc... no way he's a poor lamb
neither team is even close to being a first and sceond team... you have a mish mosh here. you also forgot lallana and ings in team 2. with them in would be ok i think for prem. 32.5mil for benteke suggests you'd better drop sturridge to team 2
I think, if fit, the first team is pretty spot on to what it will be. Maybe Benteke in for Sturridge, just think for the good of the team Sturridge is the better striker and generally suits better. Only real arguable two are Moreno in for Gomez and maybe Allen in for Can (I could see Rodgers doing that). Forgot about Lallana, him in for Tex and I don't think Ings would get in ahead of Origi. It's all theoretical of course, knowing Rodgers Lallana, Allen and Lucas will all be in the first eleven against Stoke. I was just trying to demonstrate squad strength (we'll see) and that we're lacking a DM still (all knew that anyway)
But what has he done wrong here at Liverpool? What has he done that is so wrong to justify the level of abuse he's received?
We've need a top class DM since Mascherano left, and will continue to struggle until we bring one in. Can can developed in that role but will take 1-2 years, and it would be a waste of his talent. Henderson and Milner are workhorses who are good at pressing, but lack real defensive qualities i.e. positioning, tracking runners, covering space, spatial awareness.
I'm not sure quite what you're referring to when you talk about the level of abuse- you may have to explain. If you're referring to some of the vitriolic social media abuse then you should know that I condemn that totally. I'm just thinking of the fact that it hasn't worked for him here, and that it is his fault. All I'm saying is that I believe the club has tried its damnedest to bring the best out of him and it hasn't worked. The reason it hasn't is mostly down to him. That's my opinion, but it's an opinion supported by the man's history throughout his career. I don't wish any ill on him- I hope he learns to improve his attitude and thrive somewhere- I just don't agree that others should take the blame for his current level of under-achievement. It's his life, his career, his responsibility to do all he can to make it a success- no-one elses.
Once Rodgers confirmed Gomez wasn't going on loan the writing was pretty much on the wall for wisdom. You ou sort of feel pre season was a shoot out for those two and Gomez came through much better
You'd get raped down your left hand side if you fielded that side. How can you stick Ilori into your first team when you've never seen him kick a ball in the PL btw?
I'm referring to the constant 'chucking under the bus' from fans, manager and captain. And the manager certainly has not done his most to get the best of Mario. Any decent manager would have played to players strengths - Mario has never played well as a lone striker and persisting with him in such a role was ridiculous. Mario has at least scored 1 in 3 pretty much everywhere he has been. But he failed miserably at Liverpool for some reason. Manager has done very well to deflect blame this season.
Would we? Moreno played a lot better when he was in a back 4 and next to Sakho. He's had a year to adapt and get used to the PL. And with Can in the DM role, hopefully he can cover more ground to provide more protection.
