Usual paper tripe that Jose is unhappy about lack of transfer funds this season. If that were the case he say so outright, upfront not through ' a source '. Talk about a punt, an assumption made hoping it may turn out to be real news on the fact we haven't spent big. We all know if Jose wants Sterling et al he could have them. Though even Jose won't countenance some wages being asked.
This is true. Perhaps we may see some movement on the subs bench. Id still say our first 11 is the best in the league without signings but I am beginning to question the viability of our back ups for Matic and Fabregas even more for example, as we all were last season. I know Jose likes his small squads though. I always worry when our summers are quiet because of Ancelotti after winning the league. We got shown up badly that year.
With all due respect, can't compare Carlo & Jose. Having said that, no activity is a recipe for disaster. Need cover for Diego (Rad isn't), Fab & to some extent Matic. If Manures get Sergio for David then that is a major boost for them. David is so over rated. He is a decent stop shopper, he is worse than many on commanding the box. About Goons, I always 'Trust in Arsene'.
Still waiting for the mega signings to take place. Or not!! Apart from Cech, and possibly Schweinsteger, nobody of real repute has changed clubs. To my mind, Sterling is not a top quality signing. Pogba would be!!
United and City are not hanging around like us, while our top 11 might be up there, I think Utd are now close to matching us and City now stronger. Jose will have something up his sleeve ( I hope) but it's going to be tougher than we thought 2 weeks ago. If Fabregas or Matic are out for any reason ????
Aside from Schweinsteiger (assuming he was to stay fit) there isn't anybody who's moved clubs this season who'd get in our team.
This. Its such a weak market atm. The only regret i have is vidal. And hes getting on/probably didnt want to come
City have bought steing who i dont rate. Hes not a wc player. And who? Delph? Please. They are making sideways movements. Utd are building nicely, but id rather keep the nucleus of our young team togheter, we honestly dont need aby major signings, just depth which through a fit mikel, moses, ramieres and new young players like traore and rlc we have. A few squaddies wouldnt go amiss but im happy with our approach.
Chelsea need to find a replacement for Terry, he's not got that many years left but I can't see either Manchester team maintaining a challenge, Pelligrini looks out of his depth and I've never rated Van Gaal, the EPL is too strong for him. I think Mourinho let Cech go to Arsenal just to give himself a challenge.
Not much happening with you lot but I still think you are the ones to beat. A long term injury to Costa changes that though.
I think Zouma is the JT replacement and Omeruo is the leading the pack to come into the squad. Chelobah is not getting noticed anymore. Chelsea though can always import someone as they did with Cahill. Ivanovic is always ready to come central, it is the left back position we have messed up by letting Bertrand go. Varane is my top choice to bring in central and either bring Bertrand back (we did it with Soxy) or look at Cresswell. Also how do you solve a problem like Ake. I'm still not sure his best position.
We have a very good squad, but still feel we're one top player away from competing with the Madrids, Barcelonas and Bayerns of the world. No idea who we should replace Luis with. We made a stinker with that as Bertrand was more than good enough to player there regularly. I wouldn't mind getting rid of Oscar and replacing him with someone a lot more consistent.
It's depth that concerns me as well. Costa has yet again done his hamstring against Barca, which makes Remy 1st choice at the mo ahead of Falcao. Were more than good with wide midfielders, though Ramires is just not right in my opinion. Oscar is also a weird one. Fabregas is crucial as is Matic. This is our achilles heel for me. Mikel is OK, but no more and I cant see anyone else to replace Fab. Ake could play DM as can Zouma. Across the back we can shuffle players and do OK but we lack a proper left back after the dopey decision to sell Bertrand. For me we are 2 short, and if Costa is going to be an on and off player with hamstring problems then were 3 short. Bring back Bamford?
I really like Remy. He is now playing the Chelsea way, in fact I think we'll get more from our inside forwards (they are confused wingers when we play a big CF) with him on and is a style of play unfamiliar to our opponents. Again though we only have 'one' Remy as I'm unsure how Falcao will play with the Chelsea mix. Maybe this is a good thing, we don't want to be predictable. All this tranfur talk leads me to the kids, Solanke et al. Yes if promoted we'll struggle in games, but during those games surely they would definitely fulfill their potential. Seems the risk outweighs the possible rewards with sponsors and commercial interests on the managers back demanding constant success, hence the transfur merry-go-round. Us fans are demanding success too, but we are OK with the losses (eventually) and far more understanding.
