Is there anything other than speculation as to our interest in this player?
Is he really a similar player to Juami?
I understood we were looking for a CB not an attack midfielder.

We have the money for both. Actually, we have the money to sign three CBs and three AMs, then have the trio at each position battle to the death in some kind of thunderdome for the honour of a squad number. And that doesn't even take into consideration the ticket proceeds from such.

We don't need another hero.

Is that what that big dome is at the training ground? :)

Indeed. It's also rumoured to be responsible for the falling out between Liebherr and Cortese; she was content with a giant steel orb, elegant in its simplicity with just a ring of pillars shooting flames to add gravitas, whereas Cortese wanted it to be on the moon.

Mbemba heading to Newcastle for a medical apparently. Annoying as he has the potential to be unbelievably good imo. Even if he is 25 or whatever the other documents suggest that is still young enough for a centre back to get better, and if he actually is 20 then I really think he could be up there with one of the best centre backs around when he hits his prime.

Interesting to see how he does paired with Williamson though :D

But what if he is older? He has 4 birthdays. Also he was brilliant in the Belgium league, so who knows how he will be in the Prem.

Obviously it is a risk, like signing anyone from a weaker quality league is, but I watched him in a couple of Anderlecht's European games and he stood out in those aswell. The oldest recorded documentation (I think) has him born in August 1988, which makes him 26, which is still worth it imo.

If he goes grey in a few years then we know they are all wrong. I still think Kanu was about 30+ at Arsenal.

Maybe we did try to sign him. I imagine the conversation went something like this:

LES: So how old are really Mbemba?
MBEMBA: No comment
LES: Well, nice to have met you.

The strange thing is that Mbemba himself has been forthright throughout about what he believes to be his year of birth: 1990. Somehow, though, a court decided that he was off by several years.

You do wonder how things like that can happen. I was recently told by my brother in law that Falcao is 4 years older than is believed, making him 33 not 29. He was told this by a friend of 15 years that has never told him porkies before and is a banker for the Colombian FA. Kinda makes sense as he made his debut in the Colombian 2nd tier at the age of 13, not great standard but would a 13 year old be played here in L1 ? He would get the hell kicked out of him. If true Monaco are going to have to kiss that 50 mil away

I wouldn't worry - he's at Newcastle. He'll be getting sent off on purpose and having on pitch rows with his fellow players in no time.

And if Newcastle don't publicly recognise and celebrate all 4 of them, they could have another Toure situation on their hands.
