The manager, the team (apart from Sakho), the tea ladies and now the font. Is nothing safe from your wrath, Jimmy?
The last week? He said yesterday that it wasn't the striker that had been linked to and backpedalled 9 hours ago that it wasn't a striker at all. the last week
I think the last bit is fair enough. He's definitely one of those that if he's your manager you'd find amusement from his "wumming" (to all intent) but if he's not your manager, his style would grate on you. The fergie/jose effect maybe i dunno. Not yet in their league but accomplished and arrogant/self confident enough that's for sure.
I think they are probably both laughing but for different reasons (though close). LvG is thinking "they will write anything I say" and the jurno's are thinking "they will read and believe anything I write"
I take this post in the spirit you intended it to be ... comedy ... I've no idea if the press are running round or why they're running round - if they are - my only comment regarding LVG and the press is taken from headlines. I've never read a utd article and don't intend to but you can't miss the headlines and todays Mike Smalling one was the latest [I actually don't even know the lads real first name and wouldn't have known about the gaffe if it wasn't headlining bbc
I honestly don't know the dynamics between him and the press other than there's a steady flow of his gaffes on the bbc so I'm taking it the press are doing it on purpose to make him look a bit of a fool - they seem to like that tactic. Laugh at Johnny Foreigner and he in turn is obliging by giving them plenty to laugh at.
I think the whole Van Gaal thing is just him trying to be funny. Maybe the humour doesn't translate from the Dutch and he's like the dutch Russel Howard. Maybe he's not funny, but thinks he is. Like a dutch Lee Evans. At any rate, as a 'celebrity' no-one in his circle of friends and acquaintances is going to tell him he's not funny/clever/whatever. Therefore he acts like a twat.
LVG's good for the PL. He says daft things, gets the press worked up into a frenzy and has given Astro another reason to live.
“He’s in the process,” Van Gaal said. “It’s not the striker that the media has written about. You have to wait and see. The transfer period is open until 31 August. You have to wait.” Porbably not his words again. Let's see tomorrow what he's decided he said yesterday
If those are his words (will have to watch the interview) then he has already said we are not after a striker
I love the way you are your own worst enemy. It's like you pitch them up and I bat them out the park. The press on weekend asked him about transfers. LVG came out with the "mystery signing" first of all. Something you hooked onto like the press. He had them all running around. Then he says it's nobody that's been linked already. The press go off again thinking up new names we hadnt been linked with. Who were the names you were posting when you heard that? Then after the next match when the press turn up for the next bit of bait, he slaps them in the face by saying the mystery signing wasnt a striker after all. So yeh over the last week he's led them (and you) a merry dance
That doesn't mean he's after a striker. He was asked whether he was after another player and he basically said maybe but it's not the striker the media have been writing about. Not difficult to understand.
you Mancs seem confused He's had to come out and clarify his statements because Man Utd fans went mental linking them with every striker they could and jizzing their pants I'm perfectly happy with Van Gaal's original statement; Rooney, Depay, Hernandez and Wilson is all you need
There are more posts on your board and on here about who our surprise signing is than on our board. Most of us have been laughing while you're hanging on his every word
Rooney, Depay, Hernandez, Wilson Sturridge, Benteke, Ings, Origi Which is better... Rooney and Hernandez alone are preferable to Sturridge and Benteke.
