It's great to get business done early as Europe awaits but it would be nice for a deadline day surprise.

................Peppa Pig?

I'd give him a go, if he is cheap.

He wasn't that bad tbf, and if the fee that is being mooted is accurate then I would gladly take him. He is the kind of player you would want coming off the bench against a tired defence and he could also prove very effective against lower league opposition in cup games. You're talking 1-2 mil which is nothing.

Please god, I hope we don't sign Elia. Didn't do much for me.

I know it's favourable if the club give chances to young players, but I'm not convinced by Isgrove or McQueen.

Elia on a two year deal like Martina for a small fee would be decent business and hopefully either Hesketh or Sims will be ready

Rather misleading headline...player chooses Villa over Southampton. He actually says that Villa wanted him whereas he was third choice for Saints who hadn't even made an offer. I understand this actually forms part of psychiatric tests before committing someone to an asylum: You have a chance of signing for Villa or Southampton, which would you choose? Think carefully. <laugh>

Beat me to it. Just read the same article, obviously didn't choose Villa, just didn't want to get stuck without a move.

I suspect that as long as our current management team are in place, we'll never again sign anyone over 30.
