my understanding is every year of a contract you will get a payment normally. its not a lumps sum at end like a balloon payment.

Who said had to be a transfer request. Could have just been an agreement from sterling a side t would be waived... Besides its not all about money.
If lfc said you can go but you have to agree to waive any loyalty payment, do you think sterling would have said no?
Not sure to be honest, if the money meant so little why did he not just put in a request when the first offer came in and leave the clubs to sort out a fee?
