It is hard to see anything but an Aussie victory. The wicket is offering no assistance to the England bowlers and the wicket can only get worse as the game goes on, leaving England to bat last to save the game. The weather forecast does not suggest that the British summer will come to their rescue so they had better get Ian Botham out doing a rain dance before the weekend. With no interest in the golf and probably no interest in the cricket by the close of play Friday if the Aussies have piled up 600, I hope Saturday’s racing turns out to be entertaining...
Pork pies have more brains than the Australian opener. Boycott commenting on Warner's brain fart when holing out.
Cmon Cyc we need all the help we can get looking at this pitch...!!! Good job this Test isnt one of those old fashioned 'Timed Tests' back in the day... We could be here till christmas...
Speaking of the past Red, I saw an old Heavyweight Title fight on Youtube that was set for 45 rounds. They don't breed 'em like that anymore.
Lets hope the undercard wasnt as long as well pal... The spectators would need backsides made of stone...!!!
Oh joy, Oh joy, two wickets! Give me a break, we're in for a right old hiding here, miserable sod that I am.
Apparently Phil The Greek (that is the Duke of Edinburgh to the Aussies) was at Lord’s this morning. He was in the Long Room talking to the Members, because hanging about with them meant he was not the oldest person in the room for once. It was good to hear on TMS that the Baggy Green Army have renamed the Lord’s head groundsman Mick Dundee. Wickets like this are killing Test cricket – the public want to see a contest between bat and ball, preferably for five days with a result. The punters actually got to see more wickets in the morning session than yesterday’s crowd saw all day. Broad deserved one as he has been the best of the England bowlers. It is somewhat ironic that he has bowled worse than this in the past and got five wicket hauls. As the Aussie score ticks past 500 and Steven Smith ticks past 200, England can only hope that the wicket does not come to life for the tourists because the England batting does not start until No. 4, Geoffrey Boycott’s love child. There are ominous noises coming from the Met Office about the weather for Sunday, so maybe the British Summer is going to rescue England.
Apologies as earlier I said that the England batting did not start until No. 4 but I forgot Ian Bell, so it did not start until No. 5; however, it did not even start there today. Well done to Peter Nevill, gloving a catch from only his second ball as a Test wicketkeeper, a feat that has only been achieved twice previously. For the third Test at Edgbaston, it looks like we will be getting Geoffrey Boycott in to open, James Taylor at No. 3 (not the one with Carolina in his Mind) and somebody had better call KP for the No. 4 job. Of course they could try preparing a wicket that assists our bowlers and just accept that it will help the two Mitchells as well...
Precisely. We are trying to sell Cricket to the Gooks and the Olympic committee (shouldn't be hard) and this pitch is a ****ing disgrace. After Cardiff we are in the mode of have what we hold by preparing wickets like this to order. No one thought there might be a problem if we didn't win the toss or thought that was a gamble worth paying? The first day of the first test at Lords in 2005 produced 17 wickets;yesterday produced 1. ECB objective is a tactical win at all costs...to hell with entertainment and the advancement of cricket. They'll always have the Ashes..to hell with the newbies..be careful..remember Kerry packer? Pathetic...mind you if we had batted first!!. Well played Australia although the middle order still looks dodgy..a bit like our top order! Can the guys I mentioned from the England middle order, during the first test, knuckle down and tough it out or are they just unfettered shot players when a score is on the board?..time will tell. Draw the only result England can hope for but I think its well possible.
I've been calling for Taylor since before the first test. He is English..but hey,we already have 7 and thats toooooo many.
Have the Aussies taken leave of their senses? Or do they think that the weather will hold out tomorrow? They should have just put the England shower back in to follow on. Although it pains me to say it, we have been outclassed by the descendents of a bunch of convicts. Apparently, John Major, Nigel Farage and Ed Miliband have been at Lord’s today – but not together. Major and Farage can afford tickets but I will assume that Miliband is working in one of the bars serving the Aussies dingo p*** or they have him in the kitchens doing the washing up.
Seriously? Have you ever been to Australia? Do you know any Australians? Great bunch in my experience, and much more fun than most of the miserable ****s you meet on an average summer afternoon. However don't let views from the real world get in the way of bigotry In all seriousness, this week we have had the "Aussies are convicts" and "Italians are wops" prejudices from yourself and it is wearing a bit thin ....................................
QMII, that's bad form indeed, have you taken leave of your senses? You need to travel the world a bit, if it's not too late. Who needs Arkle Supreme when we've got you. For Christ's sake behave yourself.
