Tempting offer? It's about as tempting as snapping my other knee in half.

We need Nolan like we need a hole in the head. Jarvis might be good still but doesn't seem to have got much of a chance there. If this deal went through it would be scarily reminiscent of Trevor Sinclair's theft in exchange for half a dozen magic beans and two of the worst players in one of QPR's worst ever teams. I could only have been about seven and I knew we'd been mugged off.

James Collins is one I'd have who perhaps isn't too unrealistic and in a position we are lacking but he'll be on good money, isn't young and surely no player is inspired by being a bit part in another player's transfer. Rarely seems to work although I remember Birmingham once paid Palace serious cash and a young Andy Johnson for Clinton Morrison.

Nolan's legs have gone, but he'd do a good job in the championship and, despite what other hammers may say, he is a good leader (can't have been easy being booed every week by mindless morons simply because he was the best we had available). Jarvis, I'm actually not too keen on losing him, I'd prefer it if he stayed, but, like Downing, if we have to lose him to get Austin, I'm happy.
Nolan + Jarvis + £8m, that's not too bad for a relegated player with one year left.

On the other hand, keeping him may get you the goals that secure the £100m premiership pot.

If you got him for 8m and those two mugs it'll be the signing of the season.

It would be a worse deal than Trev Sinclair.

If Kevin Nolan joined the club I'd be devastated

£15 million, no players plus cash, we'll find our own replacements

Nothing tempting about this at all.

If West Ham want Austin they should make a straight cash offer.

No way could we afford (never mind want) either Nolan or Jarvis!

Why do people make such a fuss about QPR wanting £15m for Austin but don't bat an eye-lid at £32+m for Benteke?

Good point. £32m for Benteke is crazy though, big gamble.

£15m CASH or do one! Nolan!!!!!!!!!!!! No Way. Jarvis, no thanks. We should keep Chas at least until Xmas at which time, if we are not in the top 4, he can go, simples!!! upload_2015-7-16_16-43-4.jpeg

Villa will have plenty of cash available after Benteke's imminent departure.

QPR are considering making a new contract offer to Charlie Austin.

Rangers discussed a new deal for the striker last season but accepted he would not re-sign while the club was on course to be relegated from the Premier League.

His departure seemed inevitable once relegation was confirmed, particularly after he won an England call-up.

Austin, who recently turned 26, is still expected to leave before the start of the new season.

However, amid speculation linking him with several clubs, QPR have not had any enquiries since rejecting a bid from Leicester – the first approach they had received for Austin despite numerous reports of interest from the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle, West Ham and Southampton.

Austin has a year of his contract remaining, having signed a three-year deal when he moved to west London from Burnley in 2013.

By not signing an improved contract, he missed out on a substantial pay increase.

Rangers believe another offer to Austin could address this while still leaving the door open to an eventual move and, crucially, protecting the club from potentially losing him for a knockdown fee in January or no fee at all were he to see out his current contract.

Austin scored 18 goals last season and has netted a total of 36 in his two years at QPR.

On Thursday afternoon a number of bookmakers suspended betting on him signing for Newcastle, but the Magpies had still not made an approach.

QPR want £15m for him and director of football Les Ferdinand this weekinsisted the club would not reduce the asking prices for Austin and winger Matty Phillips.

That would be a sensible bit of business by the club if he were to sign an extension, also adding some value to him if we don't get promoted - would love it if it was true

He ignored a 40k a week contract a few months ago. Les has said its 20k tops, an 8k reduction on what he was paid last season, from now on. If we break the rules for him, expect Hill and Mackie to start whining about people not pulling their weight immediately.

I doubt those two would have an issue with Charlie re-signing

Newcastle ready £15m Charlie Austin offer in bid to beat Leicester to QPR striker
    • Newcastle are preparing a £15m bid for QPR striker Charlie Austin
    • Leicester are expected to raise their offer after having £12m bid rejected
    • Rangers midfielder Sandro could return on loan to Brazil with Santos

Newcastle are expected to make a £15million bid for QPR striker Charlie Austin in the next 48 hours.
Leicester are also proposing to improve their £12m offer for the 26-year-old while QPR have offered him a new contract to stay.
The Foxes are poised to put in a new bid of around £14m with Claudio Ranieri is happy to push for the Englishman after their opening bid of £12m was rejected 10 days ago but they face strong competition from Steve McClaren's side.

The 26-year-old has attracted admirers after scoring 18 goals in his maiden Premier League season
QPR have remained steadfast that unless £15m is reached Austin will not be sold. The 26-year-old may also have reservations about a move to Leicester as he was hoping one of the more established Premier League sides would come in.
West Ham and Crystal Palace have also shown interest but none have made an official bid with discussions so far involving players in exchange plus cash.
Austin surprised many by scoring 18 goals during his debut season in the Premier League, despite Rangers being relegated at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, QPR midfielder Sandro is closing on his loan move to Santos in Brazil.
