A very confident performance by England and it was brilliant to see Australia on the back foot for most of the game. Let's hope they can repeat the show at Lord's. It should be a more helpful track for the Aussie quicks and the toss could be key.
Just a shame that the Ashes is not free to view. I didn't see a single ball bowled and had to make do with Radio commentary and that was only on digital R5L SX at home as I don't have LW on my car radio.
Usual story, dodging from one dodgy stream to another. But I ended up with this one http://watchcric.net/channel/watch-live-cricket-9 which in terms of signal quality, is as good as any I've ever watched. I hope they do football coverage from August?
I agree, but I had to give in and get sky, which I don't feel good about, but watching the final day with a few beers, it seemed good value ( I hate to say)
It is a wretched dilemma Longsight and I feel thet with the Beeb passing over the Open I will be there myself.
Just checked the weather forecast for the period of the match at Lord's. No serious rain expected, maybe an occasional shower. Given this, we should have a result in this match. Probably the same starting eleven. Would like Rashid to be given a chance but nobody deserves to be dropped to accommodate him.
We're lucky to have it all on free-to-air telly here in Aus. I've always been quite impressed with their coverage too. Quality commentary team including Ian Healey (who is excellent) and Mark Taylor, Michael Slater plus (for the Ashes) Vaughan and David Lloyd. Others chip in like Warnie and Brett Lee from time to time too. The reason I'm impressed is how genuinely dis-interested they are. Clearly they get excited when Aus play well but there's a real excitement in their commentary when Eng put Aus to the sword as well. Have to say even Shane Warne can be impartial (when he's commentating anyway).
Not Ashes, but cricket related. Sadly. The match-fixing ogre raises it's head above the parapet once again - no surprises for guessing it's on the Asian subcontinent http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-33517583

Its a shame...I loved Watson, he's been rubbish ever since he came to my attention as an Australian cricket player. Scored runs whenever the wicket was dead flat or the series was over as a contest. Picked up the odd wicket yes, but they should have kicked him out years ago.
Yes. A bit disappointing to say the least. Going to be tough to get them out for sub-450 which is going to put a bit of pressure on our batters. Frankly the way they are going they could end up with 550-600 which would really put us up against it, particularly as they are still scoring quickly and so there will be an awful lot of time for them to get 20 wickets. We desperately need to make some inroads with the new ball.
It already has draw written all over this one. One innings per side job. Sad for the paying public who would much rather see a bat vs ball contest - instead of a run-fest.
Bold assertion given that we have yet to bat. They may be batting particularly well or our bowlers could be having an off-day. I would not be so bold as to predict us hitting 500. I know we have batted pretty well recently but not under as much pressure as we will be under. Hopefully Cook will get the big score he is due and take the pressure off the rest.
