The Chief has been named Captain for this season, with Clint Hill carrying on as 'Club Captain'. I think its a great move, as I have always been impressed by Ned's attitude and application. I also think that played in his best position, at CB, he can be a force in the Championship. Let's hope so!

PS - The indirect comparison he makes in the club interview (here) between himself and Pele made me smile!

Good call. With his upbringing and where he comes from I'm sure he got the right attitude and backround to be a succesfull captain for us.

    TOLD YOU SO..

It was obvious at the kit release evening......absolutely sound move.
I suspect he will rise to the occassion....my only fear is he appears to be very quiet.....perfect for all the press stuff...but is he loud enough on the pitch?

Maybe he has learnt from some of the good stuff that Barton did in that respect.

Good logical choice, with Clint backing Ned up.

His reputation in the game is a lot better than we as QPR fans rate him. Not that it's necessarily important but Onuoha is a very intelligent guy off the pitch and well liked by other pros according to a guy I know who went to school with him in Manc.

I really like Ned and I think he was probably the only realistic choice.

No argument with any of that, and I reckon the championship is about his level. I was just hoping to see more of the bloke who stormed through the Chelsea team to score while on loan to Sunderland a few years back. We've had a lot of 'he'll be great beside an experienced CB'. He's 28 FFS. Doubtless nice bloke and seems to have more than the average number of brain cells for a footballer.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between Club Captain and Captain? Guess the latter is Captain on the field of play, and the other position? Is it some kind of judicial function? :emoticon-0100-smile

Ned will likely be spending more time on the field of play compared to Clint, although Clint will always be there on the sidelines (bench) and in the changing room encouraging the squad.

Not quite the same as when Neil Warnock made Adel Taarabt team Captain to pacify him, but Clint was obviously the "unofficial" Captain on the field of play.

Ned will help steady the ship and steer us through the rough waters ahead.

Sound choice for both players, should command the respect of all the players. Having a few others with the right attitude like Faurlin and Mackie will help the younger players as well...

I recall when he was interviewed on the QPR podcast some months ago he spoke about his aspirations to become captain. Mission accomplished, well done Ned, now live up to it

This obviously means any chance of Barton reappearing is now zip. Ok, so we really are moving onward and hopefully, upwards.

My only concern is his number of appearances last season. I have no doubts that he will do a good job.

Good luck Nedum, he strikes me as a guy who carries himself well and I hope he can restore some pride in our play.

First and foremost, get your defence playing like a unit again

Ned will be captain where the action is, and I hope whatwver Hill is means he won't be slagging off the ones he thinks are paid too much.
