Anyone would do the same in any job, and that's all professional football is nowadays sadly, a job. Very good player though, better dancer than zenden.
The way that he left and the reasons behind it have left a real sour taste, clearly not interested in having any ambition in his career other than earning the most money he possibly can, which he has done. Having said that we haven't had a striker anywhere near his quality since he left and as a result have struggled since then.
Very true mate. He could have been a hero here, and if he'd performed well for us he probably could have earned a move to a Champions League team and competed at the highest level. It's hardly like he was on pennies when he was with us.
To be honest I think he'd have moved on to bigger and better than us after another year or two anyway, but definitely a massive shame and no one will ever know how good he could have been now.
Oh no doubt, we would have been a stepping stone. He seem the perfect all round forward, I think he'd flourish in this league now a it demands forwards that can actually play and that lad can play. Whether he'd be a top 4 striker, not sure, certainly not playing week in week out, Champions League striker? All day long.
My only thoughts on Gyan are its a shame we could not have seen more of him in a Sunderland shirt, he was a real star and a fantastic player, I also don't blame him one iota for taking his talent elsewhere, most footballers would do the same given the chance. Good luck to the lad.
