So its unlikely the Adidas deal is preventing us from announcing any new signings then? I think we will see them start to come flooding in over the next few weeks.
It's been my theory for a few weeks now but things are starting to move so maybe not, unless the big marquee striker is being saved for the new kit unveiling
Great question. If he is as a wingback... ------------------GK ---------CB ------- CB ------CB -----------Schneid/Schwein Darmian-----Herrera-----Blind Mata---------Rooney------ADM/Depay ---------------------CF/Depay If not as wingback.... ------------------------GK Darmian------CB-----CB--------Blind ---Schneid/Schwein----Herrera-- Mata---------------Rooney-------ADM/Depay ------------------------CF/Depay Two bits of wishful thinking on my part... 1) Mata will play 2) We'll buy Schwein and Schneid.
Happy to see you fit Herrera and Mata into both teams (and agree Blind is our best LB at the moment) I would have Rooney as CF in both scenarios but would feel we missed the composure of Carrick (maybe Morgan/Bastian can bring this). Would also feel a little bit sorry for Young as he was one of our better players last season and certainly the most improved.
I totally forgot about Young tbh. Maybe means Depay is going to be played further forward or behind Rooney as the CF?
Its tough to pick a best 11 that includes the likely signings. De Gea Darmian CentreB ----CentreB Shaw/Blind Schweinsteiger/Carrick Herrera ----Schneiderlin Mata(Di Maria)---- Rooney ----Depay(ADM/Young)
Reading the comments from todays press conference it sounds like Depay will be used as a striker. LvG, "yes we need more goals, that is why we signed Memphis" Depay "I will play where the manager asks me, that is his decision"
I think Mata is most likely to miss out of the two but with Di Maria injured and out for a while, Mata will get a run in the team and a chance to cement his place. Theres going to be some tough competition in the wide areas so I am hoping two of them step it up and reach the top level.
Could be the case with the potential quality out wide. I do think he will start wide left as its his best position. It will ease him into the team and allow him to settle. I dont think van Gaal particularly rates Rooneys scoring ability though. If we dont sign a striker(we will), Depay will at least give us an option.
If we are talking wide men (wingers) then you have to go Rooney up top, Memphis and di Maria wide, Herrera and Mata in the middle with Carrick/Bastian/Morgan behind them.
Yeah, it's a bit like Valencia on the left, he would cut inside every time to try to cross But could get some good shots off
He will probably play on both flanks, in midfield, number 10 as well as the occasional stint as a striker. I look forward to your reaction when/if it happens
True. I think we will see a different team most matches. As long as its only a player or two being switched at a time, it shouldnt be a problem.
I have no problem with changing the odd player/formation for certain situations but wholesale changes to rest players etc I will never understand
