    Thanks for explaining Dave!!! <doh>
You're absolutely right in that MM won't see a penny of it.

The trouble Norwich have is they aren't willing to join in with the ludicrous money game. Which is good, but when every other team is quite happy to through silly amounts of money around for bang average player it becomes much harder not to be pulled along with them.

Do we won't morals or the best players?

    On the topic of Brady:

If he does join, the 'when' is largely irrelevant. He's likely to play for us early on at left back whilst Olsson recovers, but we already know that will be a sub-optimal arrangement as its not his most natural role as far as I'm aware. Left back isn't the most nuanced role in our system either, so more time with the manager won't make much difference. In addition, we've Miquel, Toffolo and Whittaker who could all cover there temporarily, or plenty of time to sign another player if the club decide they don't want to meet Hull's valuation.

If another club was seriously interested in Brady and we were in a genuine bidding war, then we might bid higher, faster. But I can't remember him being linked to anyone else seriously, so time is on our side in that regard too.

Finally, Hull opening contract negotiations is a "**** or busy" move. If he signs, we'll inevitably move on and there was perhaps never a deal to be done. If he doesn't, then making it clear he'll leave for nothing in 12 months arguably reduces his transfer value this summer.

As far as I can see, the only scenario where dragging this out most of the summer isn't in our favour is if another club enters a bid for him. And even then you'd expect Hull to inform us to try and spark a bidding war, so we'll still be in the conversation to sign him for a price we'd deem acceptable.

The only way waiting isn't in our favour is if Hull get so pissed off with McNally they refuse to speak to us at all!

Could be a true underdog story.

    Or a ****ing disaster.

Either way I can't believe he is on £40k per week. Supers said our max wage was about £30k p/w in that season didn't he?

Agreed and who knows, he may actually knuckle down and try to make the squad with AN in charge!!!!

    Back to the Brady rumour,
I came in and saw this...and got quite excited.
In the absence of any recent activity, I was steeling myself to see it come from Vital Norwich - not Hull <wah>

    If accurate, that's bloody annoying.

If they were to pay us £3.5m and we still paid him £10k pw as a top up salary for the remainder of his contract with us, that's still £2.5m in the bank. Not to mention the £4m saved from his wages for sitting on the bench until his contract expires.

The glass half-full side of this RvW saga is that he now gets stuck into pre-season training, impresses AN and scores a bucket full of goals this season courtesy of our 5 man midfield supplying the sort of ammo that he needed last time around.

Got no time for Bruce or what he says CC - not since he threatened to go on strike when he heard of Man Ure's interest in him. Now that was embarrassing. Not that I'm bitter or hold a grudge you understand <whistle>

If it's true we made an opening bid of £2M and have so far upped our bid to just £3M McNally is either taking the piss, stupid or completely naive.

......I would hope he's taking the piss ;)

He's also another one like Townsend and Mills who both seem to have forgotten that they ever played for us.

I think it's more the fact that McNally played 'hard-ball' over the Snodgrass move, holding out for £7m ish, so I imagine Hull are kind of 'trying to get their own back'?

Notwithstanding the fact that Snodgrass has barely kicked a ball in anger for them (not our fault I know), they must be just a little bit pissed off.
