Milos Veljkovic has helped to earn the Serbian youth side a place in the U20 World Cup Final.
His header in extra-time provided the assist in a 2-1 victory over Mali:

They face Brazil on Saturday in New Zealand, as they strolled past Senegal with a routine 5-0 victory in the other semi.

Fantastic achievement for Veljkovic. It’s great at least one Spur will win a world title this year. I didn’t see any of the games, but getting the assist for the winning goal in the semi-final, and playing 120 minutes as a defender in the final while only giving up one goal to Brazil would indicate it was not too shabby.

Not only did he play 120 minutes in the final, but he played every single minute of Serbia's run to the title.

So the rerun of WW2 in the women's World Cup is going the way of the original. USA beat Germany in the first semi final and so it's whether we can defeat Japan in the second. Anyone been watching any of the games and, if so, how have you found it? The technique is poor - miscontrols, passes into nobody, but England are doing well at least. With the higher profile this may give them, I expect Womens football to improve radically over the next few years.

I've watched a few games. The standard, even within teams, is much more variable than in men's football (which would be expected as there are many fewer players to choose from) but the overall quality is fine with some very good players. Japan play like Barcelona and England a bit like England so it should be an interesting clash of styles tonight

I've not watched the games but every time i see the highlights i can't help but think they should play in slightly smaller goals. Anything in the corner tends to be a goal.
This would have the benefit of introducing exciting saves to the matches and also force improvement in finishing/long distance strikes.

Why are the goalkeepers so ****, though?
I'd have thought that it would be one of the strongest positions.

Most male keepers are way over 6 feet & big. I haven't looked at stats, but how tall is the average female keeper? Probably under 6 feet? If the goals are of identical size the girls are bound to be at some disadvantage, as Spurm says.

Now, I'm aware that many may see this as a gratuitous display of semi-naked female flesh. However, the more perceptive among us can clearly see that it's the lady's height that is the real issue here!

Of course the length of her legs is very important I had just noticed how they went all the way up to the top. That's important with any keeper when she is going for the cross bar.
