That would just be senseless, Puncheon has no PL experience and surely a hell of a risk, when u bear in mind we've loaned Routledge out. As for Ireland not convinced a centre midfielder is a top priority, when we have Barton, Nolan, Tiote, Guthrie and Gosling.

Hmmm a know..probably all bull, bit random though, would have been happy keeping routledge tbh thought he was doing ok and getting better, just looked out of confidence! Would take Ireland purely for numbers and on the fact that on his days he's got a touch of class, would have to trim his wages though

I would take Ireland too but only if we were struggling for numbers in the CM position. There are more important areas that need to be strengthened in my opinion

Hopfully not out for long. Pardew said this "
Bad news today about 20 year-old Dan Gosling, who has appeared in three games over the last week or so, in his comeback from a serious knee injury.

His previously injured knee has unfortunately swelled up.

It could be that he’s just played too many games too early, and fluid has gathered in the knee, but this is hardly a good sign.

Dan had a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, which he picked up 10 months ago, when playing for Everton against Wolves.

And it’s still not too long ago that this type of injury ended players’ careers in football.

This is what Alan Pardew said today about Dan:

“The knee on which Dan had the operation has swelled up.” “We’ve got to be very careful with him, so we’ve just withdrawn him from training.”

“It’s difficult with Dan.” “We’re purposely taking our time with him, but he’s still ahead of schedule.”

Tomorrow’s game is the last one until Newcastle play at Fulham a week on Wednesday – so hopefully Dan can get some rest and treatment on the knee.

But it’s probably rest he needs most – since it seems he may have played too much too early.

Newcastle will now be even more cautious in bringing Dan back, and that’s the right thing to do.

We have to hope that’s all this is.

And the Newcastle club will also have to be very careful in the way they bring Ben Arfa back too, and it would be foolish to risk bringing the Frenchman back too quickly.

Dan and Hatem are important young players at the Tyneside club, and both can improve even further, to become top players for Newcastle United."

Puncheon WTF is that all about?

I have to agree with most comments on here that I'd rather of kept Routledge. Even though I am a pretty big hater of the lad, atleast he has got experience in the Premiership rather than this Puncheon that has only played, from what I can gather, 7 games in the Championship.

If it does come off I hope he goes on to prove me wrong but at the moment I'll keep my fingers crossed that its all come about from lazy journalism, with Pardew being at Southampton recently.

As for Ireland its a risky one, we either get the Ireland from City that was exceptional at times. Or we get the Ireland from Villa that has done absolutely nothing except what seems to be cause abit of unrest (the last thing we need at Newcastle)

When I was in Brussels I had no idea who the hell he was but many on here were raving about him.

Back in Blighty, switch on the TV and see a fat twat trying to be funny on the TV and it was making me cringe. I ask a mate who this idiot is and he tells me it's James Corden.

I saw how he treated Patrick Stewart at an awards ceremony and if I ever meet the fat git I'll kick him!

Oh my life, you need to get your priorities sorted out! 'Not going out' is woeful. '30 Rock', anything by Charlie Brooker and 'Peep Show' are my shows of choice at the moment!

Cordon is a moron though. His things with the England team were quality mind! <laugh>

I'm not too sure but even if he could and he was to come, I'd play Barton out on the right and Ireland in the middle. Barton out wide on the right has been brilliant
