Crystal Palace are battling with West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland to sign Queens Park Rangers winger Matt Phillips.

Phillips was a rare shining light for QPR last season during the club’s relegation from the Premier League and the 24-year-old is poised to leave Loftus Road.

Palace, West Brom and Sunderland have all opened talks over a deal to sign Phillips, although it is understood that no club has agreed a deal with QPR at this stage.

QPR are likely to demand around £8 million for Phillips, who cost the club £5m when he joined from Blackpool two years ago.

Phillips scored a stunning 40-yard goal in QPR’s defeat at Palace in March that manager Alan Pardew claimed was better than David Beckham’s famous long-range effort.

Jeremain Lens could be making a move to the Premier League with Sunderland next season.
Sunderland have made a bid for Netherlands international forward Jeremain Lens as Dick Advocaat looks to bring his fellow Dutchman to the Stadium of Light from Dynamo Kiev, sources told ESPN FC.

Advocaat is keen to bolster his attacking options this summer as he is keen to avoid a repeat of last season's struggles when Sunderland narrowly avoided relegation.

Sunderland struggled for goals last season with midfielder Jordi Gomez and striker Connor Wickham finishing as the club's joint top scorers with just six goals in all competitons.

Steven Fletcher and January signing Jermain Defoe netted five and four goals respectively and Advocaat knows he must improve their goalscoring if they are to avoid another season of survival next term.

Adovcaat has identified Dynamo Kiev star Lens as someone who can help solve Sunderland's attacking problems, having worked with the player twice before at AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven.

The coach feels Lens' versatilty -- he can play out wide or as a striker -- will add an extra dimension to Sunderland's attack next season.

**** off!! I'm four zero in 2 months!!

Beware signing him. He's on an hat-trick.

Yes because there's a magic curse that means every team he plays for will get relegated and it's his fault. <laugh>

I'd have him, he's a bloody talented midfielder and Dick made him as a player in his youth and I think he'd get the best out of him. But it's worth remembering we've been linked with every Dutchman who's ever **** a nappy so far this summer. :p

Good luck to the lad. I hope he proves himself and makes a name for himself.
