Thanks for selling Cech to us. Can't imagine how Maureen has let this one slip through his fingers, but at the end of the day I'm not too bothered why. We have got one of the best Keepers in the world and it has undoubtedly strengthened us <ok>

There was no way a hero like Petr could be expected to stay as a bench warmer. He has earned his place in the Chelsea Hall of Fame and sadly we now have to say goodbye! It would have been easier if he'd gone abroad! I remember feeling like this when Greavesie got snapped up to go to Italy only to return months later to join the Spuds!

I honestly feel that not a single Chelsea fan has any animosity towards Cech for his move. We've made good money and as a hero has earned the right to play where he wants. Not only that but deserves to be playing for a top team as well. Our loss is definitely Arsenals gain. Good look Petr you will always be a Chelsea legend.

Why didnt Greavsie return to Chelsea ? Is this the bad blood between them that I have read about elsewhere, which did seem to have been sorted prior to his recent stroke

I don't know the real reason but I met him once many years after he retired. He played in my company's annual golf day and at the dinner/presentation afterwards I remember saying to him I was a passionate blue and he was a hero until he left. All he said to me was " you support a great club, keep up the good work!"

Yes Petr will hurt us next season, but he can't go out with a whimper. We must trust in Tbo as we trusted Cech when he kept Cuddi on the bench. Yes it is a bad move by Chelsea, but it was done deliberately because loyalty deserves reward.

I think you are mixing up Chelsea and Spurs. He fell out with us over the Hall of Fame arrangements - something to do with the cost of tickets. That was sorted just before his stroke and he was due to be inducted.

Cheers SD for sorting that out.

sorry to any Chelsea fans about my post about bad blood between Greaves and Chelsea as it seems it was Spurs.

so my question remains as to why he didn't return to Chelsea after his short time in Italy

money, ambition. We were the defending champions and cup holders when he signed.

Holy mother of god, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham fans having a chat about Greavsie on a thread started about Petr Cech leaving for Arsenal, and no animosity/snide remarks. Can we keep this up guy's........ Oh wait the season hasn't started yet.

thats because Greavsie was a great player and even though he didn't play for Arsenal I can still admire him as a player. Great players deserve respect from all football fans

Same way I feel about a lot of players that deserve respect even though they played for a rival club. Greaves is one of my all time favourite's and up there with the greatest that have played the game.

Champion and Legend he will always be. Life goes on, nothing stays the same for too long. Arsenal have gained a great, and will be that much tougher to beat, not just for us but for every team.
