We have obviously been watching this guy closely and the word a few weeks ago was that 'this one was being placed on the backburner' until all of the other deals, particularly the lads from Man U, were put to bed. If Bruce and his coaches have scouted him and with the attributes he has, he must still be on Bruce's shortlist.

He meets the criteria of experience at international and european levels, scores goals, would be a great partner for Gyan and would take the pressure off the young kids until they mature. Sessagnon could play off Gyan and/or Pogrebynak if either was injured.

This is the quality signing Sunderland deserve and go some way to replacing Bent, something that was clearly a prime requirement before the transfer window opened. I cannot believe it is no longer a priority, I think Bruce is stalling to see if he can buy or loan Welbeck. Just hope we dont miss out on this lad.

Yeh, but he plays for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga. The german league has the best controls on finance and wages of all of the major leagues in Europe. His demands may be high but with some hard negotiating surely we can get to an acceptable level.

thats true enough mate but i think we would only start the bidding war and he'd end up on huge wages at a russian team

"Russia striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has postponed a move to England until the summer after being talked into helping Stuttgart's relegation fight." This was the headline in January when liverpool, Tottenham and Blackburn were sniffing around. England seems to be his preferred location!

puts a different slant on it if he favours england, but i think as much he'd like to play here if he's offerd triple the money to play in his homeland his mind could change

He certainly looks like the real deal but watching you tube, I cant help think that his next move will be to a Champions League English club not an aspiring top 10 one. Hope that wouldnt stop us bidding for him though.

He is powerful player and a great left foot.

I'd sooner have Danny Wellbeck if the truth be known? A young lad who settled well here already, knows the set up and the EPL and is desperate to succeed. For an audacious £15m bid I reckon SAF may think about selling him to fund the Sneijder deal.
