According to site FourFourTwo, recently-released forward Bobby Zamora is interested in a move to Australia to play for the Newcastle Jets – the former club of fellow ex-England international Emile Heskey.
The English forward was deemed surplus to requirements at Loftus Road and wasn’t offered a new contract, making him a free agent and at 34 years of age will struggle to cope with the physical demands of the Championship.
Zamora started his career back in the 1999-2000 season and has since gone on to play for six different teams making over 500 appearances in total.
His last four seasons, which were all with the Hoops, were blighted by injury and as such the striker only managed to bag 11 league goals in 73 games.
While with Brighton & Hove Albion between 2000 and 2003 Zamora enjoyed the most prolific seasons of his lengthy career – scoring 30+ goals in back-to-back seasons in League One and the Championship.
Capped at International level by England, the London-born attacker played twice for the White Lions – making appearances against Hungary and Sweden.
While speaking to FourFourTwo, Newcastle Jets Chief Executive Mitchell Murphy confirmed that the former Spurs striker had been offered to them;
“Bobby Zamora is one name on a very long list of contracted and uncontracted players to have been offered to the club in recent weeks.
“Newcastle Jets are working diligently to identify players who fit the club’s key criteria and budget to join the squad.”
