Just read that he has been found guilty of a serious assault in a pub and will be jailed. Yet another footballer from my childhood who has a ****ed up life after football...apparently chelsea and the pfa have been trying to help him with personal issues...not justifying his violence but hope he gets and accepts the help he needs. Sad to see someones personal demons played out in public
He got 9 months in jail. A real pity that he's come to that but he should know better. Great goal scorer for us though, that doesn't change.
That generation of player must wonder what they did wrong when they see the money players get today. No wonder so many fall through the cracks, heroes one day, yesterdays heroes the next. Hope Clubs have a better education process for todays stars, especially the young ones with too much money, too much time and not enough maturity to handle either.
He had quite a lot of work on CTV until fairly recently! I assume he got a decent income from this kind of work and it kept him in the fans eyes. He obviously had hidden personal issues we didn't get to know about!
Let's hope he comes out the other end of this, and the Club help him find his feet again. I'm sure he's a decent man despite his problems, and all problems can be solved or greatly relieved with help.
