Maybe that's how he learned to aim. Can't ever get it on target when aiming for the goal, aim for the corner flag and it might go in.

 

No, I'm suggesting he was going for the other corner Robbie Fowler made a career out of mis-hitting shots. If the striker doesn't know where its going then the keeper stands no chance

Obviously not all of his strikes. A lot of quality strikers have a habit of being able to score even when they miss hit it. Fowler did this fairly often, Kevin Phillips, Ian Wright, Ian Rush, Alan Shearer, Andy Cole, etc all did it too.

PS...saying he made a career out of it was perhaps a little strong though
