£2m is nothing, and Elia definitely has something, problem is is that he has shown that obvious talent in flashes everywhere he has been, but never on a consistant basis.

Anyone ITK hear who the club are lining up to replace Alderweireld when he likely goes to Spurs/Chelsea/Liverpool ? His replacement will be the most important buy of the summer.

Give Elia a chance. He only had half a season to prove himself, with most appearances being as a sub. He can come good. 2 million is peanuts.

I think at that price with a good pre season under Koeman, and the extra games this year, it would be a decent addition. Plus he WANTS to play for Southampton, unlike some. Think he tried to hard at times last year to impress, so hopefully will be more relaxed and part of the team by signing a contract.

So does everyone who hasn't had a great season or isn't wanted by anyone else!

Thought Elia had gone. I will have to trust Ron and Les on this (if it happens), but doesn't matter how cheap a player is if you never intend to play him. I suppose he'll just be a bum on a seat in case someone gets injured and we need a player for the League Cup.

Wait and see on Toby...not that long ago people were swearing that Clyne would sign another contract.
Seems likely isn't 100% he is joining us is it? Plus not many people thought Clyne was staying (apart from him telling people at St Mary's postive info).

To put Elia into context -for £2m we'll be getting a player who is known well to Koeman and the club, is an international with something to prove, has european experience and is a good age. He will also provide direct cover/competition to our best attacking player, who has been injured for a year.

I'm in.
