Are they really worth that much?

I have just heard that Lineker and Hanson get paid more than a million quid each a year for their inane ramblings on Match of the Day. We the license payers are funding their ridiculous wages and for such poor quality viewing.

    I could not believe it!

They bring nothing unique or exciting to the programme and I have to say they are only marginally better than Shearer and Lawrenson.

I then began to wonder just how much we pay that ex skate on the FL show.

He should have to pay to be on it for making us suffer listening to his biased nonsense.

I say they should have that Gabby Logan woman back.

She may talk rubbish as well but at least she is better to look at.

Never really seen the need for all this "analysis". The old MOTD and Big Match shows were show the match, a couple of replays of goals, an interview with a manager/player and then on with the next game.

For me, if the show is 90 minutes long, I'd rather it be filled with 85 minutes of football action, instead of 60 mins of action and 30 minutes of boring chit chat.

I think the BBC got badly shown up at last years World Cup Finals in South Africa. Was widely reported all the pundits were just out there on a jolly (at our expense) and almost no research was done on teams or players before they actually sat down in the studio to comment on them.

When you compare the views of football pundits with those of the Cricket pundits/commentators and writers, the cricket lads do much more, know much more, get information across well to the viewer/listener/reader and with genuine humour a lot of the time.

If that's true, then those salaries are ridiculous. The BBC should scrap the old and bring in some new. Hansen, Lineker and co have been doing it too long now, they've grown stale. Ian Wright was the only exciting pundit they had in recent years and they sacked him! Mind you, I still think Lee Dixon does a much better job than Hansen, Lawrenson and Shearer put together anyway!

am i the only one who likes linkeker and hansen?? ableit those fees are ridonkulous.

    shearer = boring hell
    dixon - see above
wrighty - bounces off the walls so much he doesnt really seem to know what he is talking about.

im all for some new faces - maybe a half decent ex-manager who knows about some tactics to talk about.

that said though agree with whats been said - WAY too much analysis into it these days, i mostly watch the goals then dip into my late night biccy tin before i switch back on.

Thank the football gods that MotD is back though, I still havent fully recovered from that vile ITV advert fest a few years back. Pay the presenters as much as it takes to keep football on BBC! :)

I like Lineker and Hansen, they bring a bit of humour to the show unlike Shearer and that dull **** Lawrenson (needs to sort his ****ty haircut out).

I have enjoyed the features they do on the Football league show. I found it interesting to see around clubs and "meet" their fans. But analysing football as if it rocket science is dull as f...k

Agree with Godders they are paid far to much to waffle on.

I would mutch rather have Linekar, Hanson, Lawrenson and Dickson than Claridge and Murdochs men at Sky. 19 K a week is a lot of money, however Jonathan Ross and Jeremy Clarkson get more and I cant stand them. To be honest do you consider the likes of Lambert, Lallana etc to earn too much, as they are probably on roughly the same. But don't worry everyone the country is apparently bankrupt so people like ourselves should get paid less anyway....

Totally agree. ITV coverage of the football is not a patch on MOTD.

No you couldn't! You annoy the **** out of me. So you wouldn't last long <ok>

I like Lineker and Hanson. They have done it for so long that they have a bit of banter between them. I don't mind Shearer either, I think he is growing into the role quite well. I think Lawrenson is **** though.

Shearer would be alright if he had a personality transplant. Like Lineker and Hansen though.
