I think if we sign Illa then we should sign a full back and be done. Signing too many players can be dangerous.

Origi, Ings, Milner, Bogdan and Firmino. Six signings which may be needed but any more could be excessive.

Is it true that Hoffenheim is owned by German chart sensation and occasional pisshead David Hasselhoff?

    Good signing for once.
We gonna set up with the two Brazilians behind a striker?

    who knows.

    look at our gaps.

    1. goal keeper. sorted, none great but sorted
    2. Right full. weak area. wisdom is the sole players you would say is RB. Flanagan is out, none of the kids are up to it can is a bad fit
    3. Left full. weak. Moreno cannot defend. enrique to be shifted on
    4. RCB. Skertl Ilori Lovern, Toure. covered (might not agree but the players are there for rodgers)
    5. LCB Sahko Lovern. covered
    6. holding: Can, lucas. (bit of a gap)
    7. CM Allen Henderson Milner (room for one more?)
    8. CM as above
    9. LF Coutinho, markovic
    10 RF: Firmino, ibe, markovic
    11. CF: Sturridge ings . all rest to be sold.. bit weak?

there's plent y of work to be done here. Full backs, CMs More attacking players... the list goes on but we can only get as far as we can this window and see where we get to.

I note a distinct... pep on a few steps today.

    Roberto Firmino

    Who is he?
The flamboyant Brazilian with an ever-changing appearance has shone in a free-scoring Hoffenheim side this season.

With eight goals and six assists from attacking midfield, the 22-year-old has run defences ragged and proved himself as one of the Bundesliga’s brightest talents. Indeed, he is one of the main reasons why his team are the league’s third-highest scorers.

Don’t be surprised to see his dodgy celebrations, bad hair – bleach-blonde at the moment – tattoos and utterly horrendous fashion choices (“I like to try something new,” he admitted) transferred from German to English screens soon. We want it to happen.

Why you need to know him
Firmino still harbours hopes of making Brazil’s World Cup squad, such are the quality of his performances this season. “I hope that I can still slide into the squad,” he told Bild. “It would be a dream if I could play with Luiz Gustavo (a former team-mate who owns the house Firmino currently rents) at the World Cup. That's extra motivation for the second half.”

Although he doesn’t appear to have any immediate plans to leave Sinsheim (“I feel at ease here”), it seems only a matter of time before his talents force him elsewhere. But beware – clubs looking to snap up the young Samba star would have to part with around £9m to prise him away from the contract that still has a year-and-a-half left to run.

Who does he remind you of?
Being given something of a free role in the hole makes him something of a Philippe Coutinho – and potentially perfect competition for his even younger Liverpool compatriot. Firmino has proved effective drifting from wide areas to central ones, as shown by his ever-increasing heap of goals and assists.

    Would be perfect for
    Liverpool, Tottenham.

**** off stealing my fanboyism. Only I get to make silly claims and consider all others not worthy of my club

    Besides.......

Domino is muck. A manc told me so.. and an arsenal Dick head. .. all we need now is a bitter to confirm it.

As no once said.... sigh. I guess it's suicide again for me.

How much time was left on his contract when you guys signed him? I'm guessing it wasn't just one year, he must have signed an extension since that article.

Must say I have never heard of him, looking forward to seeing what he's like, some extra flair in the PL is never a bad thing. Hope for his sake that he's not signed as a striker as that will be a lot of pressure to get the required goals. If he plays as an AM and you get a decent striker it should help him adapt sooner with less pressure, although the big price tag will carry a decent amount of pressure regardless.

Rodgers is still on holiday. I doubt he can even spell Firmino.

But I don't care if he doesn't know about Firmino - let the committee find and secure targets, and let Rodgers coach them. That's how it should work. <ok>

He's a 10 goals, 10 assists type of player which is what we need.

Absolutely buzzin that we managed to pull this off!

Di Marzio linking us again with Kovacic - if that does happen, then I see Can playing DM and Firmino playing up front.

  18. He's not even joined yet but the BBC are already on the case. They refer to him as "a striker" before putting his goal scoring record (47 goals in 151 games) at Hoffenheim on display <doh>
